UAE markets 15 Aug 2007

UAE market news & discussions for 15 August 2007

The UAE markets seem to be struggling to make any headway this month with both DFM and ADSM falling today on relatively low volumes. Perhaps the rout in shares worldwide is having a knock-on effect. Abu Dhabi Ship Building stood out as a winner today with a rise on unusually active trading.

Borse Dubai said they had productive talks with the OMX. The OMX chief said he was still confused. Al Madina Investments of Kuwait announced their forthcoming listing in September on DFM. TAQA's acquisition of Northrock was completed and TAQA North announced the start of their operations. Shuaa released a research report for Union Properties, giving them a BUY rating. Oasis Leasing sounded pleased with a 16th place in a global leasing company survey. Emaar proudly released the news of their inclusion in S&Ps new index, a week after the S&P had already told us.

Results for 2007 Q2 were released or updated today for Shuaa Capital (Q1 results), Dana Gas, Commercial International Bank (CIB), National Marine Dredging (NMDC), National Corporation of Tourism and Hotels (NCTH), Oman & Emirates Investment Holding (OEIHC), and Kuwait Commercial Markets Complex (SHOP).
