UAE markets 30 Apr 2009

UAE market news & discussions for 30 April 2009 The UAE markets finished the week on a stronger note with gains across the board. Dubai was up 0.5% to 1606 points from turnover of AED 527m, and Abu Dhabi was up 1.2% to 2527 points although turnover was relatively light at AED 229m. Emaar released 2009 Q1 results this afternoon, showing a profit but well down on 2008 Q1 figures. On the Nasdaq Dubai as of 15:30 UAE time, DP World is up 8%, and there has been a handful of trades on Emaar, Shuaa, and DFM derivatives - all in the green, and GOLD, also up slightly. Dubai Investment Company (DIC) shares were also popular and rose 7.5%, the best gainer of the day. Emaar Properties (EMAAR) share price was unchanged, and was in third place on the traded value table. Most other stocks rose less than 4% or on thin trading, with prices for 7 of the more active stocks closing at the same level as yesterday. Only 4 stocks fell, including Mashreq Bank (MASQ) 5% limit down but on low volumes, and Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) down 1.3%, the only one of the actively traded stocks in the red. Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange In Abu Dhabi, the top three stocks by turnover were Aldar Properties (ALDAR) (+3.4%), Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) (+3.7%) and Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) (+0.1%) while Commercial Bank International (CBI) (+6.7%), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) (+6.3%), and Dana Gas (DANA) (+6.25%) were the top gainers on turnover of more than AED 1m. Other gainers included First Gulf Bank (FGB) up 4.75%, Sharjah Cement (SCIDC) with an average increase of 4.6% but closing prices limit up with no sellers in the queue and much heavier than usual trading. The remaining gainers rose less than 4% or on low trading levels. There were 9 losers but only Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) (-6.7%) and Sharjah Islamic Bank (NBS) (-1.1%) saw trading of more than AED 1m.

The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) index closed 3.28% higher at 1,597 with 295 million shares traded worth 355 million dirhams. 24 shares advanced and 1 declined. Dubai Investment Company (DIC) lead the trading on news of a 10 fil distribution and 10% bonus share issue. They closed limit up at 1.34. Arabtec (ARTC) up 5.31%, Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) up 5.0%, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) up 3.17%, Emaar Properties (EMAAR) up 3.5% and Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV) up 3.3% all finished strongly on good volumes. The ADX index closed 2.16% higher at 2,497 with 159 million shares traded worth 276 million dirhams. 25 shares advanced and 6 declined. In banking WAHA lead the trading up 4.48%. First Gulf Bank (FGB) up 1.89% and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) up 5.49% were also higher. Realestate stocks were all higher on good volumes. Aldar Properties (ALDAR) up 3.50%, Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) up 5.36% and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) up 2.54%. Energy stocks all climbed Aabar Energy (AABAR) up 4.0%, Dana Gas (DANA) up 6.6% and Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) up 4.89%. For Telecons Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) closed 1.73% higher. UAE market news & discussions for 28 April 2009 UAE fourth quarter results - table of financial results so far, with dividend and AGM information UAE financial news - latest news from Reuters, Bloomberg and UAE media Sharewadi calendar - important dates Dubai Financial Market UAE markets followed world markets today falling over one percent on pandemic concerns, falling oil prices and renewed doubts about the banks. However, trading volumes were down. The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) index closed down 1.39% at 1,546 with 213 million shares traded worth 255 million dirhams. All the heavy weights fell including, Arabtec (ARTC) (2.59%), Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) (3.27%), Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) (1.78%) and Emaar Properties (EMAAR) (1.30%) Ajman Islamic Bank (AJMANBANK) managed a gain of 2.88%. The ADX index closed down 1.14% at 2,444 with 99 million shares traded worth 198 million dirhams. Banking was mixed with Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) up 1.30% and Bank of Sharjah (BOS) up 0.69%. However, First Gulf Bank (FGB) down 5.37% and WAHA down 2.90% were lower. In Realestate all were down, Aldar Properties (ALDAR) down 6.27%, Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) down 3.45% and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) down 5.22%. Energy was mixed Aabar Energy (AABAR) up 0.51% and Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) up 0.55%, and Dana Gas (DANA) down 2.60%. For Telecoms, Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) closed 0.91% lower Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange
