UAE markets 25 Nov 2009

UAE market news & discussions for 25 November 2009

The ADX rose 0.56% to 2910 points from a low AED 124m worth of trading. The DFM rose 1.1% to 2093 points from turnover of AED 278m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1430 UAE time, DP World is up 6.7%, Depa is unchanged, and there has been a trade in DFM derivatives, up 2.7%.

The UAE markets are closed tomorrow, and open next week on Monday and Tuesday only. Sharewadi is on holiday for the week so if the jungle wireless connection is a bit sketchy, the daily market report might not be sent for those days.     Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock in Dubai, but didn't crack AED 100m, rising 0.73% to 4.16 from AED 93m worth of deals. A couple of the Kuwait secondary listings stood out on trading volumes, Ektitab Holding (EKTTITAB) in third spot with AED 24m worth of deals, and its 7.0% rise to 0.76 also putting it in third spot on the gainers list. Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) was the best of the more active stocks, rising 7.45% to 1.01 from a relatively high AED 15m worth of turnover. Global Investment House (GLOBAL) was the top gainer at 15% limit up but from just a handful of small trades. Gulf Finance House (GFH) rose 5.3%, Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) 4.35%, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) 4.2%, Dar Takaful Insurance (DARTAKAFUL) 4.0%, Drake & Scull (DSI) 3.1%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 3%. There were only two losers, Dubai National Insurance & Reinsurance (DNIR) down 0.87% from just one trade, and Emirates NBD (ENBD) down 0.43% to 4.60.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) took top spot on the traded value list for a change, with just AED 35m worth of volume, rising 1.6%. Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was up 1.5% from just AED 17m worth. Union Cement (UCC) and National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCTH) were the top gainers, closing 10% limit up but from just 1 trade for Union Cement. Ras Al Khaimah Ceramics (RAKCEC) was up 5.9%, National Marine Dredging (NMDC) 2.9%, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) 2.5%, Aabar Energy (AABAR) and Qatar Telecom (QTEL) 2.2%, and the remaining gainers rose less than 2%. Oman and Emirates Investment Holding (OEIHC) was the worst loser with a 10% limit down close but from thin trading. Bank of Sharjah (BOS) was the only losing stock trading more than AED 1m worth, down 4.9% to 2.00, and also the second worst loser. Finance House (FH) fell 3.6%, Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) 2.5%, and the other 4 losers were down less than 2%.

    UAE market news & discussions for 24 November 2009

    The Abu Dhabi stock market fell 0.47% to 2894 points from low turnover of AED 151m. The DFM fell 1.9% to 2071 points on moderate turnover of AED 344m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1500 UAE time, DP World is up 1.1%, Depa is down 1.4%, and there has been a trade (first one in a while) in Nasdaq shares, down 1.3%.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock and the only one trading more than AED 100m worth, as it fell 2.8% to 4.13 from AED 182m of traded value. Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) was the the worst loser with a fall of 5.6%, but from low volumes. Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was the worst of the more actively traded stocks, down 3.6% to 2.13. National General Cooling (TABREED) fell 3.45%, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) 3.4%, Dubai Investment Company (DIC) 3.3%, and most other losers fell between 1% and 3%. Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) was the best gainer on trading of more than AED 1m, rising 2.2% to 0.94. Ektitab Holding (EKTTITAB) rose 1.4%, Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) 1.0%, Arab International Logistics (ARMX) 0.58%, and the other 3 gainers were up on low volumes.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi but still only managed AED 43m worth of deals as if fell 0.55% to 5.46. Aabar Energy (AABAR) was the worst loser on trading of more than AED 1m, falling 4.6% to 2.25. Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) fell 4.3%, Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) 2.5%, and the remaining losers were down less than 2% or on low volumes. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) was the best of the more actively traded gainers, rising 1.8% to 2.20. The other seven gainers were up less than 1% or on volumes of less than AED 1m worth. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) fell 0.88%, and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) rose 0.37%.

    UAE markets 23 Nov 2009

    UAE market news & discussions for 23 November 2009

    The ADX rose 1.5% to 2908 points from limited turnover of AED 170m with NMDC in the spotlight, closing 10% limit up after announcing the award of the Musaffah Canal dredging contract. The DFM rose 1.8% to 2112 points from moderate turnover of AED 345m, with many stocks up between 2% and 5%, including Union Properties and DFM shares up by more than 4%. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1400 UAE time, DP World is up 3.0%, and Depa is unchanged. No other listings have traded.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the only stock trading more than AED 100m worth as it rose 2.7% to 4.25 from AED 168m of traded value. Dar Takaful Insurance (DARTAKAFUL) (+6.1%) and Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) (+5.8%) were the top gainers but from limited activity. Union Properties (UPP) was the best of the more actively traded stocks, up by 4.4% to 0.94. Dubai Financial Market (DFM) rose 4.25%, Arabtec (ARTC) was up 3.65%, and most of the remaining gainers were up between 1% and 4%. There were 3 losers with only Shuaa Capital (SHUAA), down 3.2% to 1.79, trading more than AED 1m worth.

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi, rising 2.8% to 5.50 from AED 63m worth of deals. National Marine Dredging (NMDC) was the standout gainer, closing 10% limit up at 8.03 on greater than usual volumes. Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) also had respectable gains, with a 6.5% rise to 4.45. Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) was up 4.2%, First Gulf Bank (FGB) 3.6%, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) 3.3%, and most other stocks were up less than 3% or unchanged. There were only 4 losers, with Ras Al Khaimah Ceramics (RAKCEC) the most active, falling 2.4% from less than AED 1m.

    UAE market news & discussions for 22 November 2009

    The ADX fell 2.0% to 2865 points from turnover of AED 151m with most stocks down between 2% and 4%, and no gainers of any note. The DFM fell 2.6% to 2073 points on relatively low turnover of AED 281m with Emaar down 4.4%, and Dubai Islamic Bank leading the way down with a fall of 5.3%. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1530 UAE time, DP World is down 7.4%, Damas is down 3.85%, and Depa is unchanged from just one trade.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the only stock trading more than AED 100m as it fell 4.4% to 4.14 from AED 112m worth of deals. Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) was the worst of the more active losers, falling 5.3% to 2.67, Arab International Logistics (ARMX) was down 5.1%, Dar Takaful Insurance (DARTAKAFUL) fell 4.8%, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) was 5% limit down at 3.20, SALAMA fell 4.7%, and most other stocks were down between 2% and 4%. There were only two gainers, Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) and Al Salam Bank (SALAM_BAH), both up about 3% but neither trading more than AED 1m worth. Emirates NBD (ENBD) was unchanged which saved the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) index from a worse fall.

National Marine Dredging (NMDC) was the worst loser, closing 10% limit down but from just one trade. Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) was the worst loser on turnover of more than AED 1m, falling 6.55% to 4.14. Dana Gas (DANA) was down 4.55%, Aabar Energy (AABAR) 4.5%, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) 4.4%, Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) 4.0%, and most other stocks fell less than 4%. Commercial Bank International (CBI) was the top gainer, 10% limit up at 1.60, but from just one small trade, there were another 6 gainers, none on significant trading levels except for Finance House (FH), up 0.57% from just over AED 1m worth of deals. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) fell 1.3%, and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) fell 3.0%.

    UAE markets 19 Nov 2009

    UAE market news & discussions for 19 November 2009

    The ADX fell 0.85% to 2925 points from turnover of AED 204m with Aldar the most actively traded stock, leading the way down with a 5% fall to 5.46. The DFM had a similar performance with a 0.81% drop to 2130 points from turnover of AED 465m with Emaar the most active stock as always, falling 2.3%, and Du Telecom the worst of the more active losers with a 4% fall. Dubai Islamic Bank stood out as one of the few gainers, up 2.6%. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1500 UAE time, DP World and Depa are unchanged, Damas is down 1.9%, and DGS is down 0.57%.

Most other stocks fell between 1% and 3%, or on low volumes. There were only 5 gainers but only National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), up 1.9%, saw volumes of more than AED 1m. Abu Dhabi National Insurance (ADNIC) was the best gainer, closing 10% limit up but from just one insignificant trade. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) closed unchanged at 11.40.

    UAE markets 18 Nov 2009

    UAE market news & discussions for 18 November 2009

    The ADX fell 0.48% to 2950 points from turnover of AED 213m with Arkan the top gainer, rising almost 7%, and Waha Capital the most actively traded stock, up 3%. Etisalat and NBAD fell about 1% which dragged the index into the red. The DFM fell 1.4% to 2147 points from low turnover of AED 323m, with Emaar the most active stock as usual, falling 1.6%, and most other stocks in the red by 1% to 3%. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1500 UAE time, DP World and Depa are unchanged, and Damas is up 6%.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) fell 1.6% to 4.43 from AED 141m worth of trading, the only stock with turnover of more than AED 100m today. Gulf Finance House (GFH) was the worst loser, down 5.7% to 1.33, Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) fell 4.95%, Ektitab Holding (EKTTITAB) 3.9%, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) 3.05%, and most other stocks down less than 3% or unchanged. There were only two gainers, Dubai Islamic Insurance (AMAN) up 0.84%, and Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV) up 1.4%.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Waha Capital (OILC) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi but still only traded AED 22m worth as it rose 3.0% to 1.04. Several other stocks also saw turnover of around AED 20m - Dana Gas (DANA) (unchanged), Aldar Properties (ALDAR) (-1.85%), Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) (+4.6%), Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) (-2.1%), and Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) (+3.4%). The top gainer, Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN), rose 6.6% to 3.32. Agthia Group (AGTHIA) and Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC) were up about 2.5% each, and the remaining gainers rose less than 2% or on thin volumes. Al Dhafra Insurance (DHAFRA) was the worst loser, down 9.5%, but from just one trade. Sorouh was the worst of the more active traders, down 2.1%, and the remaining losers fell less than 2% or on low volumes.

    UAE market news & discussions for 17 November 2009

    The ADX barely moved yet again, down 0.10% to 2964 points from low turnover of AED 146m with Sorouh and Aldar the most active stocks, falling about 1% from AED 30m worth of deals each, and nothing of particular note in the gainers or losers list, with the two heavyweights NBAD and Etisalat unchanged. The DFM was down 0.91% to 2179 points from turnover of AED 567m, with Emaar deals worth over AED 300m as it fell 1.1% to 4.50, and apart from a 1% rise in Emirates NBD keeping the DFM index from looking even worse, most other stocks fell between 1% and 4%.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) traded AED 317m, the most active stock in Dubai and the only one over AED 100m worth. Dar Takaful Insurance (DARTAKAFUL) was the worst loser on more than AED 1m worth of trading, down 4.1% to 2.11, Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) fell 3.8, Gulf Finance House (GFH) 3.4%, and almost all other stocks were down less than 3%. There were only 3 gainers, the rarely traded Aerated Concrete Industries (ACICO) up 13.8% from one trade, Emirates NBD (ENBD) up 1.1% to 4.65, and Al Salam Bank Sudan (ALSALAMSUDAN) up 0.8%. Ektitab Holding (EKTTITAB) and Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) were unchanged.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) traded about AED 30m worth each, falling 1.2% and 0.8% respectively. International Fish Farming (ASMAK), National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCTH), and Ras Al Khaimah Poultry (RAPCO) all closed 10% limit up, each from a single trade. Aabar Energy (AABAR) was the best of the more active gainers, up just 1.2% to 2.55. Waha Capital (OILC) rose 1.0%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 1% or on thin trading. National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT), and Dana Gas (DANA) were amongst the 7 stocks unchanged. Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC), down 2.5%, was the worst of the more active losers, Sharjah Islamic Bank (NBS) fell 1.9%, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) 1.6%, and the other losers were down less than 1.5% or on thin trading.
