UAE markets 31 Aug 2009

UAE market news & discussions for 31 August 2009

The ADX rose 0.51% to 2897 points with volume up a bit from yesterday at AED 243m. The DFM went the other way though, falling 0.41% to 1914 points with turnover down slightly at AED 517m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1445 UAE time, DP World is up 3.2%, Damas up 7.3%, DGS up 1.2%, and a handful of derivative trades in DP World (+0.74%) and Shuaa Capital (+11.4%).

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock in Dubai with AED 245m and falling 1.4% to 3.47. No other stocks traded more than AED 100m worth. Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) was the top gainer, rising 15% limit up to 1.98 and with relatively substantial turnover of AED 40m from 21m shares. Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) rose 2.35%, Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) 2.0%, and all other actively traded stocks fell or were unchanged. Gulf General Investment (GGICO) was the worst loser on turnover of more than AED 1m, 5% limit down at 1.68. Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) fell 2.3%, Drake & Scull (DSI) 2.2%, and the remainder by less than 2% or on low volumes.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi with turnover of AED 79m and a rise of just 0.21% to 4.94. Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) fell 0.31% to 3.17 from AED 50m worth of deals, and all other stocks traded less than AED 20m worth. Agthia Group (AGTHIA) was the best of the more actively traded gainers, rising 3.5% to 2.12. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) was up 2.4% to 10.95, First Gulf Bank (FGB) 1.2%, and the remainder up less than 1% or on low turnover. Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADAVIATION) was the worst loser with more than AED 1m worth of trading, falling 4.0% to 2.92. Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC) fell 2.9%, Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA), Dana Gas (DANA), and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) all over 1.7%, Aabar Energy (AABAR) 1.05% before shares were suspended, and the remainder less than 1% or on low trading.

    UAE markets 30 Aug 2009

    UAE market news & discussions for 30 August 2009

    The ADX rose 0.30% to 2865 points from relatively low turnover of AED 161m. The DFM did better with a 1.85% rise to 1922 points from turnover of AED 692m, with Shuaa Capital limit up after more news about the DBG share issue and appointment of a new CEO, and a solid 6% rise for Emaar Properties.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock in Dubai with AED 334m worth of deals and a 6.0% increase to 3.53 putting it in second place on the top gainers list. Arabtec (ARTC) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m, rising 1.4% to 2.96 despite some heavy insider selling. Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) was the best gainer, closing 15% limit up at 1.73. Other gainers included Drake & Scull (DSI) up 3.4%, Union Properties (UPP) up 3.3%, and most other actively traded stocks up less than 3% or closing flat. There were only 3 losers, Global Investment House (GLOBAL) down 2.4% on low volumes, and Arab International Logistics (ARMX) and Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) down about 1%.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi with just over AED 50m worth of deals and a 2.25% rise to 3.18. Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) was the top gainer with a 4.85% increase to 3.46, Union National Bank (UNB) rose 3.25%, Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) 2.3% on low volumes, and the remaining gainers up less than 2%. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) rose 0.48% to 10.45 and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was up 1.1% to 13.65. Agthia Group (AGTHIA) was the only loser trading more than AED 1m, falling 1.0% to 2.01. There were 8 other losers on low volumes, including First Gulf Bank (FGB) down 1.2% and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) down just 0.34%.

    UAE market news & discussions for 27 August 2009

    The ADX was unchanged at 2856 points from AED 318m of turnover. The DFM rose 0.75% to 1887 points from AED 601m worth of deals. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1515 UAE time, DP World is down 3.1%, Depa is unchanged, and and there has been a trade in Emaar derivatives, up 1.7%.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock with AED 243m worth of trading and a 2.5% rise to 3.32. Arabtec (ARTC) also saw more than AED 100m worth of deals with share price closing unchanged at 2.92. Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) was the best gainer of the more active stocks, rising 2.8% to 0.74. Other gainers included Gulf General Investment (GGICO) up 2.35%, Emirates NBD (ENBD) up 2.2%, Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) up 2.0%, and the remainder up less than 2% except for Ektitab Holding (EKTTITAB) and Global Investment House (GLOBAL) which rose more but on low volumes. Union Properties (UPP) was the worst of the more active losers, down 2.15% to 0.91, Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) fell 1.2%, Drake & Scull (DSI) 1.1%, and the remainder were down less than 1% or on low volumes. Mashreq Bank (MASQ) was 5% limit down from a small trade of just 80 shares, but all the same, still enough to hold back the index despite the gain on heavy trading in Emaar.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi with AED 69m worth of trading and a 0.97% rise to 3.15. Bank of Sharjah (BOS) was the best gainer on more than AED 1m worth of deals, rising 3.75% to 1.65. Al Khazna Insurance (AKIC) and Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADAVIATION) both closed 10% limit up but on few trades. Other gainers included Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC) up 1.5%, Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) up 1.4%, Waha Capital (OILC) and Union National Bank (UNB) up 1.2%, AGHTIA up 1.0%, and the remaining gainers up less than 1% or on thin trading. Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) was the worst of the more actively traded losers, falling 4.1% to 3.42. The other 8 losers fell on low volumes or less than 1%, including Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) which was down 0.48% to 10.45.
