UAE market news & discussions for 31 August 2009The ADX rose 0.51% to 2897 points with volume up a bit from yesterday at AED 243m. The DFM went the other way though, falling 0.41% to 1914 points with turnover down slightly at AED 517m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1445 UAE time, DP World is up 3.2%, Damas up 7.3%, DGS up 1.2%, and a handful of derivative trades in DP World (+0.74%) and Shuaa Capital (+11.4%). No other stocks traded more than AED 100m worth. Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) was the top gainer, rising 15% limit up to 1.98 and with relatively substantial turnover of AED 40m from 21m shares. Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) rose 2.35%, Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) 2.0%, and all other actively traded stocks fell or were unchanged. Gulf General Investment (GGICO) was the worst loser on turnover of more than AED 1m, 5% limit down at 1.68. Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) fell 2.3%, Drake & Scull (DSI) 2.2%, and the remainder by less than 2% or on low volumes. Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeAldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi with turnover of AED 79m and a rise of just 0.21% to 4.94. Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) fell 0.31% to 3.17 from AED 50m worth of deals, and all other stocks traded less than AED 20m worth. Agthia Group (AGTHIA) was the best of the more actively traded gainers, rising 3.5% to 2.12. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) was up 2.4% to 10.95, First Gulf Bank (FGB) 1.2%, and the remainder up less than 1% or on low turnover. Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADAVIATION) was the worst loser with more than AED 1m worth of trading, falling 4.0% to 2.92. Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC) fell 2.9%, Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA), Dana Gas (DANA), and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) all over 1.7%, Aabar Energy (AABAR) 1.05% before shares were suspended, and the remainder less than 1% or on low trading. | |
