UAE market news & discussions for 16 August 2009 The DFM fell 2.2% to 1882 points from relatively low turnover of AED 345m with most stocks falling, including UPP 10% limit down. The ADX fell 0.50% to 2853 points from turnover of AED 245m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 14:15 UAE time, DP World is up 1.4% and Depa is unchanged at $0.61, the only two stocks traded on Nasdaq Dubai so far today. UAE financial news - latest news from Reuters, Bloomberg and UAE media Dubai Financial Market Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock in Dubai and the only one trading more than AED 100m worth, with a 3.0% fall to 3.20 from AED 149m worth of deals. Union Properties (UPP) was the standout stock today, plummeting 10% limit down to 1.04 from AED 70m worth of trades, volumes limited by the lack of willing sellers. Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) fell 5.0%, Dubai Refreshments (DRC) and Al Firdous Holdings (ALFIRDOUS) were 5% limit down on low volumes, Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) fell 3.85%, Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) and National General Cooling (TABREED) fell 3.1%, and most other actively traded stocks fell between 1% and 3%. Ektitab Holding (EKTTITAB) was the only gainer, rising 3.6% from just one small trade. Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange Dana Gas (DANA) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi today, rising 3.4% to 1.19 from AED 84m after releasing Q2 results with a strong headline profit figure despite operational earnings not looking so hot. Dana Gas was also the best of the more active gainers. Aldar Properties (ALDAR) and Gulf Cement (GCEM) were the only other two gainers on trading of more than AED 1m, both rising by less than 1%. Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) was the worst of the more active losers, down 2.6% to 0.75, Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) fell 1.7%, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH), Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC), and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) all fell about 1.6%, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) fell 1.4%, and the remaining losers fell less than 1% or on turnover of less than AED 1m. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) fell 0.48% and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was unchanged. | |
