UAE market news & discussions for 25 August 2009The UAE markets were relatively flat today with the ADX down just 0.21% to 2823 points from AED 202m of turnover, and the DFM almost unchanged with a 0.07% rise to 1848 points and just AED 227m worth of trading. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 15:15 UAE time, Depa is a suprise in the number one spot for turnover with US$1.5m worth of deals. DP World has seen less than US$1m, both stocks unchanged and both trading about 2.5m shares so far. Dar Takaful Insurance (DARTAKAFUL) was the top gainer, up 2.1% to 2.47, Emirates NBD (ENBD) rose 1.9% from one small trade, Arabtec (ARTC), National General Cooling (TABREED), and Union Properties (UPP) rose over 1%, and the ramining gainers were up less than 1% or on low volumes. Seven stocks closed unchanged, and 10 fell including Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) down 4.5%, the worst loser of the day, Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) and Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV) down 1.4%, Drake & Scull (DSI) and Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) just over 1%, and the others less than 1% or on low volumes. Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeSorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi, falling 0.66% to 3.05 from AED 55m worth of deals. International Fish Farming (ASMAK) was 10% limit up from low volumes, Agthia Group (AGTHIA) up 4.9% was the best of the more actively traded gainers, Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) rose 2.4%, Aldar Properties (ALDAR) 1.8%, and the remainder up less than 1.5% or from low trading. Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) was the worst loser, falling 3.1% but from less than AED 1m worth of deals. Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) was also suffering from lack of interest and fell 2.55%, Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) was down 1.4%, Waha Capital (OILC) and Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) 1.2%, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and Aabar Energy (AABAR) just over 1%, and the rest down by less than 1%. | |
