UAE market news & discussions for 13 August 2009The DFM regained 2.7% after yesterday's fall to close at 1924 points from trading down a bit at AED 574m from 292m shares. The ADX was up 1.6% to 2867 points from turnover of AED 417m from 209m shares. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 15:30 UAE time, DP World is unchanged, and there have been a handful of derivative trades in DIB, NBAD, and SHUAA, all in the green except for NBAD (unchanged). No other stocks traded more than AED 100m worth. Almost all stocks were in the green including Arabtec (ARTC) up 5.5% to 2.89, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) up 4.65%, Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) up 4.0%, and most of the remainder up between 1% and 4%. Only two stocks fell, Dubai Refreshments (DRC) (-4.8%) and Global Investment House (GLOBAL) (-3.55%), both on low volumes. Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeSorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi with a 2.3% rise from AED 93m worth of trading. Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) was the standout gainer with a 6.8% rise from AED 72m worth of deals. United Arab Bank (UAB) and National Bank of Umm Al Quwain (NBQ) both rose over 8% but from low volumes. Gulf Cement (GCEM) was up 5.0%, Aldar Properties (ALDAR) 4.95%, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) 2.65%, Waha Capital (OILC) 2.3%, and the remaining gainers rose less than 2% or on low volumes. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) both rose 1.5%. There were 8 losers but only Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC) (-0.78%) and Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) (-0.18%) saw turnover of more than AED 1m. | |
