UAE markets 16 Sep 2007

UAE market news & discussions for 16 September 2007

An extremly lacklustre days trading on both UAE markets today with both indicies finishing down on very small volume.

IAIC (Salama) bought back a small number of shares on Thursday. DFM reported that net foreign and institutional buying was positive last week which sounds encouraging even though the markets continue to flop about and go nowhere so far this month. Union Properties CEO said in an interview they were going to borrow another AED 3-4 billion for more projects. Emaar's Burj Dubai continues in the opposite direction to Emaar shares and is now the tallest free-standing building in the world.

The head of Borse Dubai said an IPO was planned at some point. And continuing the OMX bid story, it now seems to be the turn of HSBC to fall under the spotlight with The Observer reporting that Sweden's financial regulators are investigating HSBC's bookbuilding of OMX shares.
