UAE market news & discussions for 28 October 2009

The ADX fell 1.5% to 3097 points from turnover of AED 274m. The DFM fell 1.4% to 2286 points from turnover of AED 1 billion with the foreign secondary listings continuing to suffer heavy falls on high volumes, but the index was propped up by a rise in Emirates NBD. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1500 UAE time, DP World is down 1.3%, Depa is down 1.4%, Damas is down 2.9%, Dubai Gold Securities is down 1.1%, and Citigold is unchanged from a rare single trade.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock with AED 439m worth of trades, and fell 3.5% to 4.67. Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m, falling 2.3% from AED 210m worth of deals. Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) closed 10% limit down at 1.62, followed by Gulf Finance House (GFH) down 9.1%, and Ektitab Holding (EKTTITAB) down 8.5%, with all three stocks trading significantly higher than usual volumes. Arab International Logistics (ARMX) was down 4.6%, Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) 4.0%, and most other stocks falling between 1%-4%. There were only 3 gainers, Gulfa Mineral Water (GULFA) 5% limit up from low volumes, Emirates NBD (ENBD) 4.0% up, and Arab Insurance Group (ARIG) up 1.0% from just one trade.

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock, and the only one trading more than AED 100m (just) as it fell 3.3% to 6.06. Ras Al Khaimah Ceramics (RAKCEC) was the worst loser on trading of more than AED 1m, down 6.9% to 1.72, Agthia Group (AGTHIA) fell 3.45%, Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) 3.1%, and most other stocks were down less than 3% or on low volumes. There were 6 gainers with only three rising on turnover of more than AED 1m - Al Ain Ahlia Insurance (AAAIC) up 9.8% and also the best gainer, and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) both up less than 0.5%. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) fell 2.05%, and Gulf Livestock Company (GLS), the new listing today, was untraded.

    UAE market news & discussions for 27 October 2009

    The ADX fell 0.71% to 3145 points from AED 239m of turnover. The DFM fell 0.80% to 2319 points from turnover of just over AED 1 billion. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1415 UAE time, DP World is down 1.1%, Depa is down 3.9%, and Dubai Gold Securities are down 0.62% from just one trade. NBAD released Q3 results after trading showing a solid increase in profit. ADCB Q3 results were released during trading but shares were not suspended, with Net Profit plummeting 90%.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock in Dubai with AED 480m worth of trading and a 0.82% fall to 4.84. Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m worth, falling 1.1% to 2.62 from AED 226m worth of deals. Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) was the worst loser, closing 10% limit down with no sellers in the queue from a relatively substantial AED 25m worth of trading. Kuwait Finance and Investment (KFIC) and Arab Insurance Group (ARIG) were also 10% limit down but from low volumes. Gulf Finance House (GFH) fell 5.3%, also trading significantly higher volumes than usual, Ektitab Holding (EKTTITAB) was down 4.1%, Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) fell 3.4%, Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) and Arab International Logistics (ARMX) were down 2.8%, Arabtec (ARTC) 2.5%, Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) 2.35%, Dubai Islamic Insurance (AMAN) 2.1%, and the remaining losers were down less than 2% or on low volumes. There were 6 gainers: Gulfa Mineral Water (GULFA) 5% limit up from just 2 trades, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) up 3.5%, Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) 1.5%, and another 3 stocks up less than 1%, including Emirates NBD (ENBD).

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi with AED 95m worth of trading, and rose slightly, by 0.16% (just one fil) to 6.31. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) was the worst of the more active losers, tumbling by 8.3% to 2.12. Union National Bank (UNB) fell 2.3%, Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) 2.2%, Waha Capital (OILC) 2.0%, and the remaining losers were down less than 2% or on low trading volumes. First Gulf Bank (FGB) was the best of the more active gainers, up by 1.8%. Agthia Group (AGTHIA) rose 0.50%, and the remaining gainers were up on traded value of less than AED 1m each. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) fell 0.41% and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) saw no trading today.

    UAE market news & discussions for 26 October 2009

    The ADX rose 0.65% to 3168 points from turnover of AED 390m. The DFM rose a solid 3.3% to 2338 points from turnover of AED 1.2 billion. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1430 UAE time, DP World is up 3.6%, and Damas and Depa are unchanged.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most heavily traded stock with a 4.5% rise to 4.88 from AED 491m worth of deals. Dubai Financial Market (DFM), up 6.4% to 2.65 was also active with AED 283m of turnover and was the second highest gainer. Arabtec (ARTC) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m worth, rising 4.4% from AED 106m of turnover. Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) was the best gainer, up 7.2% to 1.79. Gulfa Mineral Water (GULFA) (from just one trade) and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) closed 5% limit up, Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) rose 4.6%, Emirates NBD (ENBD) 4.5%, and most other stocks were up between 1% and 4%. There were only two losers, Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) down 9.6% to 1.99 on heavier than usual trading, and Global Investment House (GLOBAL) down 2.1% on low volumes.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the only stock in Abu Dhabi trading more than AED 100m worth, gaining 2.1% to 6.44 from AED 110m. Qatar Telecom (QTEL) was the best gainer on more than AED 1m worth of trading, up 3.2% to 160.00, Waha Capital (OILC) rose 3.0%, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) 2.7%, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) 2.3%, and the other gainers were up less than 2% or on thin volumes. National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) rose 0.72% to 13.85. Several stocks closed unchanged, including Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT), Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP), and Aabar Energy (AABAR). There were 9 losers but only Gulf Cement (GCEM), down 3.6%, and Union National Bank (UNB), down 1.3%, saw turnover of more than AED 1m each.
