UAE market news & discussions for 20 October 2009The ADX was almost unchanged with the index up by just 0.19% to 3183 points from turnover of AED 301m. The DFM fell 1.2% to 2296 points from trading of AED 1.3 billion. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1515 UAE time, DP World is down 0.18%, Depa is down 5.0%, and Damas is up 4.4%. Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m with a 2.3% fall to 2.57 from AED 185m worth of trading. Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) was the worst of the more actively traded stocks, down 3.4% to 0.85. Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) fell 3.2%, Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) 3.0%, and most other stocks fell between 1% and 3%. Gulf Finance House (GFH) was the best gainer, closing 15% limit up at 2.07 with no sellers in the queue and greater than usual turnover. Al Firdous Holdings (ALFIRDOUS) was 5% limit up but from low volumes. Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) rose 1.1%, Dubai Investment Company (DIC) rose 0.72%, and the other 3 gainers rose less than 1% on low volumes. Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeAldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi, rising 2.8% to 6.30 from AED 91m worth of deals. Abu Dhabi National Insurance (ADNIC) was the top gainer on trading of more than AED 1m, rising 6.7% to 6.50, Al Khazna Insurance (AKIC) rose 4.1% to 1.31, Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) was up 2.4%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 2% or on low volumes. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT), First Gulf Bank (FGB), Waha Capital (OILC), and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) all closed unchanged from yesterday. Ras Al Khaimah Poultry (RAPCO) and Union Insurance (UNION) were the worst losers, closing 10% limit down but from just 2 small trades each. Union National Bank (UNB) was the worst of the more active losers, falling 1.0% to 3.82. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), and Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) all fell less than 1%. The other 5 losers were down less than 1% or on low volumes. | |
