UAE market news & discussions for 21 July 2009The markets went opposite ways today, with the ADX rising 0.58% to 2697 points from low turnover of AED 109m, while the DFM fell just over 1% to 1751 points from more substantial turnover of AED 604m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 15:00 UAE time, DP World is down 0.54%, Damas is up 5.9%, Depa is down 2.3%, Boulder Steel is down 40% but that was from just one trade, and there have been a couple of derivative trades for Air Arabia (+1.5%) and DFM (-0.74%). There were only 3 gainers: National General Cooling (TABREED) up 4.65% to 0.90, Dar Takaful Insurance (DARTAKAFUL) up 1.2%, and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) up just 0.37%. Air Arabia (AIRARABIA), Deyaar Development (DEYAAR), Dubai Investment Company (DIC), and Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) all closed unchanged. Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was the worst of the losers with a 4.3% fall to 1.55. Dubai Islamic Insurance (AMAN) fell 3.7%, Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) fell 3.0%, Gulf General Investment (GGICO) fell 2.75%, and the remaining losers fell by less than 2.5%. Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeRas Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP), up 1.4%, and Dana Gas (DANA), up 1.0%, were the most active stocks in Abu Dhabi, but still only saw just over AED 18m worth of deals each. Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) was the best gainer on more active trading, rising by 3.25% to 1.25. Aabar Energy (AABAR) rose 1.5%, Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) and First Gulf Bank (FGB) 1.4%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 1% or on low volumes, including Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) both up by just over 0.9% each. National Marine Dredging (NMDC) was teh worst loser, falling by 8.9%, but that was from just one small trade. Of the 11 losers, only Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) saw more than AED 1m worth of deals, and fell 1.9% to 5.01. Aldar Properties (ALDAR), Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC), and Waha Capital (OILC) all closed unchanged. | |
