UAE market news & discussions for 14 July 2009Markets saw a respite from the sea of red we've had so far this week, with solid gains in some stocks but turnover still relatively modest. The ADX rose 1.8% to 2607 points from turnover of AED 153m. The DFM rose 3.8% to 1692 points from turnover of AED 410m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 14:30 UAE time, DP World is up 9.3%, Damas is down 7.7% from one trade, and Sorouh and Air Arabia derivatives are in the green from one trade each. Dubai Financial MarketEmaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock in Dubai with just under AED 100m worth of deals, and rose 8.3% to 2.47, making it the second best gainer of the day. Arabtec (ARTC) was the second most active stock and the best gainer of the day with a rise of 11.4% to 2.44 - a little more than the amount it plummeted by yesterday. Most other stocks were up 4% or more including Dubai Islamic Insurance (AMAN), Dar Takaful Insurance (DARTAKAFUL), and Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) all up more than 7.5%, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) up 7.35%, Union Properties (UPP) up 6.2%, and Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) up 6%. There were three losers, and only Emirates NBD (ENBD), down 1.25%, saw trading of more than AED 1m. Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeAldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi but with only AED 42m as it rose 4.0% to 3.40. National Marine Dredging (NMDC) and Union Cement (UCC) closed 10% limit up but from only a handful of small trades. Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) was the best of the more active stocks with a 5.9% rise to 5.15, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) and Waha Capital (OILC) rose 4.3%, Aabar Energy (AABAR) 4.0%, and most other stocks were up less than 4% including National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) up 2.1% and Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) up 2.0%. There were 5 losers, none trading more than AED 1m, with Ras Al Khaimah White Cement (RAKWCT) the worst, falling by 7.5% to 0.90. | |
