Dubai Financial Market
The DFMGI headed north today but on low volumes of 497m dhs worth, closing 0.7% up at 4140 points with little notable movement except, unsurprisingly, in the shares of National Bank of Dubai (NBD) and Emirates Bank International Group (EBI); and high volume in DFM shares.
The trading suspension for National Bank of Dubai and Emirates Bank shares was lifted today after their chairmen provided DFM and ESCA with some clarification on the merger announced yesterday. Not particularly enlightening though. Both stocks were up 5% on higher than normal volumes but not anything significant.
DFM shares were the most heavily traded by value - 196m dhs worth and a 3% fall to 2.28. Emaar Properties PJSC (EMAAR) volume still low at 153m dhs worth and a small 0.4% rise to 12.80. Other actively traded stocks moved by less than 1% on moderate to low volumes.
Abu Dhabi Securities Market
ADSM had a marginal rise of 0.1% to 3084 points on good volume of 271m dhs with an even split between stocks rising and stocks falling in price. Over a third of the total value was from trading in Aldar Properties PJSC (ALDAR) shares which tanked by 6.8% to close at 4.36. Record date of 12 March 2007, share sales to founders, and foreign ownership allowance news all together making for a fun day trying to work out what was happening.
Oasis International Leasing Company PJSC (OILC) traded very heavily today with a small rise of 1.4% and 42m dhs worth of shares traded putting it at number two on the ADSM volume list today (by value). Other heavily traded stocks were Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) down 1.1%, Dana Gas PJSC (DANA) down 2%, and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) down 0.4%. None of the other more active shares changed by more than 1% or so.
A relatively busy day for ASMAK up 7.3% and Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) up 8.8%.
