UAE markets 31 Jan 2010

UAE market news & discussions for 31 January 2010

The DFM fell and the ADX rose, with both markets trading low volumes. Gulf Navigation stood out with a good gain, and Aramex was up only 1.2%, their good Q4 results offset by a poor rating from Goldman Sachs. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1445 UAE time, DP World is down 1.8%, and Depa is unchanged.

    The Dubai index fell 0.59% to 1590 points from turnover of AED 209m with Emaar Properties (EMAAR) the most actively traded stock, down 0.65% to 3.07 from AED 85m worth of shares. Dar Takaful Insurance (DARTAKAFUL) was the worst loser, 10% limit down to 1.39 but from thin trading. Emirates NBD (ENBD) was the worst of the more active losers, down 4.1% to 2.35, and most other stocks fell less than 3%. Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV) was the top gainer, up 7.1% to 0.60, Gulf General Investment (GGICO) was 5% limit up but from low volumes, Drake & Scull (DSI) was up 2.35%, and the other gainers were up less than 2% or on low volumes.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    The ADX rose slightly by 0.20% to 2633 points from limited trading of AED 87m worth of shares with Aldar Properties (ALDAR) the most active stock but still only trading AED 17m worth as it fell 2% to 3.94. Ras Al Khaimah White Cement (RAKWCT) was the best of the more active gainers, 10% limit up to 1.04, Gulf Medical Projects (GMPC) and Umm Al Quwain Cement (QCEM) also closed 10% limit up but on low volumes. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) were up more than 4%, Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) rose 3.9%, and the other gainers were up less than 3% or on low volumes. Apart from Aldar, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH), down 1.3%, was the only other loser trading more than AED 1m worth. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) were unchanged.

    UAE markets 28 Jan 2010

    UAE market news & discussions for 28 January 2010

    Stocks rose today, led by Emaar, DFM and Arabtec with most stocks in the green. ADCB was a surprise gainer after announcing a big loss on Tuesday, and FGB was busy but didn't rise, despite announcing solid profits yesterday. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1530 UAE time, DP World is down 3.3%, and Damas and Depa are unchanged.

    The Dubai index rose 2.2% to 1599 points from AED 334m worth of trading, with Emaar Properties (EMAAR) the only stock trading more than AED 100m, up 4.75% to 3.09 from AED 125m worth. Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was the best of the more active stocks, up 6.0% to 1.58, Arabtec (ARTC) was up 5.1%, Gulf Finance House (GFH) 4.6%, and most other stocks rose between 1% and 3%. There were 5 losers, with National Cement Company (NCC) and Dubai Insurance (DIN) the worst, closing 5% limit down, but none traded more than AED 1m worth.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    The ADX rose 1.0% to 2628 points from turnover of AED 222m with Aldar Properties (ALDAR) the most active stock, up 2.3% to 4.01 from AED 80m worth of trades. First Gulf Bank (FGB) was in second spot by turnover with AED 53m worth, more than it usually trades, but share price was unchanged at 15.30. Top gainers were Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and National Marine Dredging (NMDC), both 10% limit up at closing prices of 1.50 and 9.53 respectively. Aabar Energy (AABAR) was up 3.8%, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) 3.6%, and the remaining gainers rose less than 3% or on low volumes. There were only four losers including Invest Bank (INVESTB) 10% limit down but from just two trades, and Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH) down just 0.51%, the only loser trading more than AED 1m worth. National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was up 1.4%, and Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) was unchanged.

    UAE market news & discussions for 27 January 2010

    Markets rose slightly today led by Drake & Scull and Arabtec in Dubai. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1400 UAE time, DP World is the only stock traded so far, down 2.8% to $0.515.

    The Dubai index rose 0.60% to 1565 points from turnover of AED 242m with Emaar Properties (EMAAR) the most active stock, up 1.7% to 2.95 from turnover of AED 64m. Drake & Scull (DSI) was the best of the more active stocks, up 5.0% to 0.84, Al Salam Bank Sudan (ALSALAMSUDAN) rose 3.9%, Dubai Investment Company (DIC) was up 3.5%, Arabtec (ARTC) 3.35%, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) 2.8%, and the remaining gainers rose less than 2% or on low volumes. Union Properties (UPP) was the worst loser, down 5.6% to 0.51, Gulf Finance House (GFH) fell 4.4%, Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) 4.2%, Emirates NBD (ENBD) 3.9%, and the other losers were down less than 3% or on low volumes.

    The ADX was rose marginally by 0.12% to 2602 points from AED 137m worth of trading, with Aldar Properties (ALDAR) the most active stock, down 2.25% to 3.90 from AED 68m worth of deals. Several stocks closed 10% limit up - Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADAVIATION), Sharjah Cement (SCIDC), and Finance House (FH) on low volumes, and National Marine Dredging (NMDC) the only one on turnover of more than AED 1m. Sharjah Islamic Bank (NBS) was up 2.9%, Aabar Energy (AABAR) rose 1.9%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 1.5% or on thin trading. Several stocks closed unchanged including Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP), and Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA). GLS and International Fish Farming (ASMAK) were the worst losers, both down more than 9% but from just a single trade each. Waha Capital (OILC) was the worst of the more active losers, down 2.3% to 0.85, First Gulf Bank (FGB) fell 1.6%, and the other losers were down less than 1.5% or on low volumes. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) was up 0.46%, and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was down 0.45%.
