UAE market news & discussions for 11 January 2010Both markets fell on low volumes with most of the more active stocks in the red. Arabtec topped the turnover and loser's list in Dubai for a second day running, after the DFM announced they would investigate possible abnormal price movements prior to the disclosure of the Aabar investment proposol. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1430 UAE time, DP World is up 5.65% to $0.51, and Damas is up 10% to $0.22. Arabtec (ARTC) was the most active stock in Dubai again, and also the worst loser, falling 3.35% to 2.60 from AED 168m worth of trading. Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m, down 1.0% to 3.91. Global Investment House (GLOBAL) was the top gainer, up 5.1% but from just one small trade. Of the other 4 gainers, only National General Cooling (TABREED) saw trading worth more than AED 1m, and rose just 1.2%. Gulf Finance House (GFH) fell 2.7%, Drake & Scull (DSI) fell 2.2%, and the other stocks were down less than 2%. Several stocks closed unchanged, including Union Properties (UPP), Dubai Investment Company (DIC), and Deyaar Development (DEYAAR). Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeThe ADX fell 0.21% to 2775 points on relatively low turnover of AED 103m. Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock but still only traded AED 25m as it fell 2.1% to 5.01. United Arab Bank (UAB) was the top gainer, closing 10% limit up at 7.04 from low volumes, Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) was the best of the more active gainers, up 5.9% to 2.57, Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC) rose 4.4%, Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) 3.0%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 2% including Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) up 0.45%. Umm Al Quwain Cement (QCEM) was the worst loser, down 7.25% to 0.64 but from low volumes. Waha Capital (OILC) was the worst loser on turnover of more than AED 1m, down 3.2% to 0.90, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) fell 2.8%, and the remaining losers were down less than 2% or on thin trading.
