UAE market news & discussions for 05 January 2010Both markets rose although marginally in Dubai, and volumes were up somewhat in Abu Dhabi with heavier trading in Aldar. Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the only stock trading more than AED 100m worth in Dubai, closing unchanged at 4.02 from AED 324m. Gulf Finance House (GFH) was the top gainer, up 7.9% to 1.09, Dubai Investment Company (DIC) rose 3.0%, Union Properties (UPP) 2.9%, Ajman Islamic Bank (AJMANBANK) 2.2%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 2% or on low volumes. National Cement Company (NCC) and Dubai Insurance (DIN) were the worst losers, 5% limit down but from low volumes. Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) was the worst of the more active stocks, falling 1.7%, Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) fell 1.1%, Drake & Scull (DSI) 1.1%, and the other losers were down less than 1% or on low volumes. Several stocks were unchanged including Arabtec (ARTC), National General Cooling (TABREED), and Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB). Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the only stock trading more than AED 100m, rising 3.4% to 5.24 from AED 151m worth. Al Khazna Insurance (AKIC) was the top gainer, 10% limit up but from just two small trades, Dana Gas (DANA) was the best of the more actively traded stocks, up 5.3% to 0.99, Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) rose 3.7%, First Gulf Bank (FGB) was up 3.0%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 2% or on low trading. Invest Bank (INVESTB) and National Bank of Umm Al Quwain (NBQ) were the worst losers, 10% limit down, with significantly higher turnover of AED 12.7m worth for Invest Bank albeit from just one trade. No other losers traded more than AED 1m worth. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) rose 0.45%, and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was up 1.2%. | |
