UAE market news & discussions for 21 May 2009 There was a small gain of 0.26% to 1667 points on the DFM today, from modest turnover of AED 257m. The ADX was almost unchanged with a 0.02% (less than one point) decrease to 2612.53 points from turnover of AED 350m - unusual to see trading volumes higher than Dubai. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 14:30 UAE time, DP World is down 3.6%, GOLD is up 1.3%, and Emaar derivatives are up 1.0%. Dubai Financial MarketArabtec (ARTC) was still at the top of the turnover table with just over AED 100m worth of deals and a slight fall of 0.38% (just 1 fil) to 2.59. Emaar Properties (EMAAR) rose 0.77% to 2.62 from turnover of just AED 39m. Arab International Logistics (ARMX) was the best gainer with a 6.9% rise to 1.24, Dar Takaful Insurance (DARTAKAFUL) was up 6.7%, and the remaining gainers rose less than 2% or on thin trading. Many of the actively traded stocks closed unchanged from yesterday, including Drake & Scull (DSI), Air Arabia (AIRARABIA), Dubai Investment Company (DIC), and Emirates NBD (ENBD). In the loser's list, Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) and Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV) were the worst of the more active stocks, falling 1.6% each. The other losers fell less than 1% or on thin trading. Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeDana Gas (DANA) gas was the most popular stock by turnover in Abu Dhabi with a 3.0% rise to 1.04 from just under AED 100m worth of deals. Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) topped the gainers list closing 10% limit up at 4.40 - a share price that seems vastly overinflated, especially in the current economic climate. Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) rose 3.5%, Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC) 2.5%, and the remaining gainers up less than 2% or on low trading volumes. Agthia Group (AGTHIA) was the worst of the more active losers with a 4.1% fall to 1.40, Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) saw heavier than usual trading and fell 2.3%, Umm Al Quwain Cement (QCEM) dropped 2.3%, and the other losers fell less than 2% or on thin trading. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) was down 0.4%, Aldar Properties (ALDAR) fell 1.5%, and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was up 1.15%. | |
