UAE market news & discussions for 06 May 2009The DFM and ADX continued to build on this week's gains, especially in Dubai with a 1.3% increase to 1655 points from turnover of AED 862m, over a third of that from trading in Arabtec shares. Abu Dhabi was up a more modest 0.5% to 2591 points with solid turnover of AED 603m, over half of that from trading in the property stocks Aldar and Sorouh. On Nasdaq Dubai at 16:30 shortly before closing, DP World is up 10.3%, Depa is up 5.3%, Boulder Steel is up 7.1%, and there have been single trades in DP World derivatives (+2.1%), GOLD (-0.5%), and Emaar derivatives (+1.1%). Dubai Financial MarketAs mentioned, Arabtec (ARTC) was heavily traded with AED 336m worth of turnover from 145m shares and the stock was almost at the top of the gainers list with a 5.4% rise to 2.35. Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m worth - AED 156m total value and a 2.0% rise to 2.51. Union Properties (UPP) (+5.5%) was the best gainer of the day except for a single small trade in Arab Insurance Group (ARIG). Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) went 5% limit up with no sellers in the queue, National General Cooling (TABREED) rose 4.6%, and most other actively traded stocks rose less than 2.5%. There were 8 losers, all except Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) (-1.6%) on turnover of less than AED 1m, including Emirates NBD (ENBD) which fell 1.8% to 2.79. Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange Three stocks in Abu Dhabi cracked the AED100m worth of turnover level today: Aldar Properties (ALDAR) up 3.2% from AED 222m worth of deals, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) up 2.2% from AED 120m, and Aabar Energy (AABAR) up 4.3% from AED 102m. Sharjah Islamic Bank (NBS) was the best gainer on active trading with a 6.3% rise to 1.02, all other gainers were up less than 2% or on thin trading, including National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) (+1.8%), and First Gulf Bank (FGB) (+1.45%), while Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) was unchanged at 10.00. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) was the worst of the actively traded losers, falling 3.2%, followed by Union National Bank (UNB) down 2.4% and Dana Gas (DANA) down 2.2%.
