UAE market news & discussions for 18 March 2008

The UAE markets continue to mark time as the DFM index closes 0.64% higher and the ADSM index closes 0.51% lower on low volumes. Traders seem cautious as they wait to see whether the Federal Reserve action is successful in restoring confidence and liquidity in the markets.

The top traded share on the DFM was itself rising 2.72% to 5.66 dirhams on turnover of 43 million shares.
The top traded share on the ADSM was AABAR rising 0.55% to 3.63 dirhams on turnover of 21 million shares.

DFM Announcements:
ASCANA: Today 18/03/2008, is the last trading date for entitlement to Arab Scandinavian Insurance distributions.
DIB: Today, 18/03/2008 is the Ex-dividend date for Dubai Islamic Bank shares and trading resumes with the adjusted price.
DU: AGM of Du Telecom is being held today, 18/03/2008.
TABREED: Today 18/03/2008, is the last trading date to entitle for National Central Cooling distributions.

Dubai Financial Market

The DFM index closed at 5,617 a rise of 0.64% from the previous close. 183 million shares were traded worth 902 million dirhams. Twenty shares advanced and four declined.
The top traded share was DFM rising 2.72% to 5.66 dirhams on turnover of 43 million shares.

Other shares to rise included: AIRARABIA 1.98 (2.06%), DEYAAR 2.42 (0.83%), and Emaar Properties (EMAAR) 11.45 (0.88%).

Shares to fall included: Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) 9.99 (3.00%) and Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) 8.24 (1.55%).

Abu Dhabi Securities Market

The ADSM index closed at 4,578 a fall of 0.51% from the previous close. 118 million shares were traded worth 773 million dirhams. Nineteen shares advanced and twenty declined.
The top traded share was Aldar Properties (ALDAR) falling 0.50% to 10.05 dirhams on turnover of 38 million shares.

Other shares to fall included: Dana Gas (DANA) 2.12 (0.47%), WAHA 2.32 (2.11%), NBS 2.95 (2.64%) and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) 9.86 (0.90%).

Shares to rise included: Aabar Petroleum (AABAR) 3.63 (0.55%), ARKAN 3.78 (1.34%), Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) 3.43 (1.18%) and RAK Cement (RAKCC) 2.03 (0.49%).
