UAE market news & discussions for 17 March 2008Both UAE markets fell today in line with world stock markets. As liquidity becomes scarce in major markets, money is withdrawn from emerging markets to make up the short fall. The DFM index closed 1.65% down and the ADSM was also down by 1.72%. |

Dubai Financial Market
The DFM index closed at 5,581 a fall of 1.65% from the previous close. 241 million shares were traded worth 1.2 billion dirhams. Six shares advanced and twenty declined.
The top traded share was AIRARABIA falling 3.96% to 1.94 dirhams on turnover of 50 million shares.
Other shares to fall included: DEYAAR 2.40 (2.43%), DFM 5.51 (2.65%), Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) 11.85 (2.06%), Emaar Properties (EMAAR) 11.35 (2.57%) and Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) 3.20 (1.84%).
Shares to rise included: ARAMEX 2.92 (0.68%) and Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) 8.37 (0.84%).
Abu Dhabi Securities Market
The ADSM index closed at 4,601 a fall of 1.72% from the previous close. 93 million shares were traded worth 585 million dirhams. Eleven shares advanced and twenty nine declined.
The top traded share was Aldar Properties (ALDAR) falling 5.16% to 10.10 dirhams on turnover of 17 million shares.
Other shares to fall included: Aabar Petroleum (AABAR) 3.61 (5.25%), Dana Gas (DANA) 2.13 (3.18%), RAK Properties (RAKPROP) 2.33 (2.51%), First Gulf Bank (FGB) 19.70 (4.37%) and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) 9.95 (2.93%).
Shares to rise included: Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) 6.25 (0.16%) and Union Cement (UCC) 4.09 (4.34%).
