UAE market news & discussions for 20 April 2009UAE markets pulled back today with some big falls in many of the more actively traded stocks. Abu Dhabi fell 2.65% to 2624 points with turnover of AED 404 million, while Dubai had a heavy drop of 4.48% to 1665 points and turnover just shy of AED 900 million and every traded stock, bar one, in the red. On the Nasdaq Dubai as of 14:45 UAE time, DP World is down 3.7% to $0.26, Depa is unchanged at $0.40, Damas is down 8.8% on one trade, and there has been one small trade in Sorouh derivatives, price unchanged. Dubai Financial MarketArabtec (ARTC) was the most heavily traded stock with AED 262m worth of trading and an 8.4% fall to 2.19. Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m with AED 167m of turnover and share price falling 7.3% to 2.54. Four stocks closed 10% limit down: Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) at 1.03, Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) at 0.66, and Al Salam Bank Sudan (ALSALAMSUDAN) and Al Salam Bank (SALAM_BAH) on low volumes. Other big falls for Drake & Scull (DSI) (-8.5%), Union Properties (UPP) (-8.4%), National General Cooling (TABREED) (-8.0%), Ajman Islamic Bank (AJMANBANK) (-7.3%), Dubai Investment Company (DIC) (-7.0%), and the rest falling between 3% and 7% except for Emirates NBD (ENBD) which fell just 1.4%. Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeAldar Properties (ALDAR) was the only stock to see more than AED 100m of turnover in Abu Dhabi, and at 3.75, one of 4 stocks closing 10% limit down today. The others were Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC), and Abu Dhabi National Takaful (TKFL). Big falls on active trading also for Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC) (-8.1%), Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) (-7.25%), Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) (-7.0%), Dana Gas (DANA) (-6.7%), Union National Bank (UNB) (-6.6%), and Waha Capital (OILC) (-5.8%). The remaining losers were down less than 5% or on thin trading. National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was down 4.3% and Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) dropped 2.4%. Of the 9 stocks in the green, only 3 saw turnover of more than AED 1m: Bank of Sharjah (BOS) up 1.35%, Commercial Bank International (CBI) up 1.2%, and Sharjah Cement (SCIDC) up just 0.64%. | |
