UAE market news & discussions for 28 January 2009A further positive days trading on UAE markets today. The DFM closed flat however the ADX finished 1.5% higher. On the DFM the index closed just 0.24% higher at 1,536 with 297 million shares traded worth Dh324 million. Trading was lead by ARTC down 1.62% and DFM down 1.12%. Higher were EMAAR up 1.0% and DIC up 2.04% On the ADX the index closed 1.54% higher at 2,260 with 153 million shares traded worth Dh298 million. Trading was lead by the Banking Sector in general, ALDAR up 4.15% and AABAR also up 4.96%. In business news Congress seemed to be getting ready to pass the Obama recovery plan more deficit spending, The IMF lowered world growth forecasts and participants gathered at Davos for the World Economic Forum. Closer to home Abu Dhabi is indicating more support is on the way for local banks. Despite a positive start with the index up over one percent the market closed flat. Gainers included: Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) 0.95 (3.26%), Dubai Investment Company (DIC) 1.00 (2.04%), Emaar Properties (EMAAR) 2.03 (0.99%) and Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM)ARAT 1.10 (6.79%) Losers included: Arabtec (ARTC) 1.21 (1.62%), Dubai Financial Market (DFM) 0.88 (1.12%), Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) 1.77 (0.56%) Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV) 0.56 (6.66%) and National General Cooling (TABREED) 0.48 (0.91%). Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeOn the ADX 20 stocks advanced and 9 declined. In Banking gains were lead by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) 1.58 (1.28%), Bank of Sharjah (BOS) 1.13 (9.71%), First Gulf Bank (FGB) 7.58 (2.43%) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) 8.57 (2.39%). The only loser ws WAHA 0.54 (1.82%). Aldar lead the way in Realestate up 4.15% and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) up by 7.94%. In Energy Aabar Energy (AABAR) was up 4.96% and Dana Gas (DANA) up 1.82%. In Consumer Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH) was down by 2.22%. In Construction Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) lead the trading up by 2.80%. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) continued its climb up 1.91%. | |
