UAE market news & discussions for 10 December 2007

A mixed day on UAE markets today with the DFM index falling by 0.99% with 455 million shares trading and the ADSM index rising by 0.48% with 344 million shares trading.

On the DFM, DEYAAR continues to be the top traded share falling 1.73% to 2.83 dirhams.
On the ADSM, ARKAN topped trading rising 9.38% to 3.73 dirhams with 23 million shares wanted and no sellers.

Currency speculation rumbles on with QATAR ruling out a change in currency policy.
Some commentators are attributing the recent rise in UAE markets to foreign money coming into the country on the back of dirham revaluation speculation. Time will tell.

Dubai Financial Market

The DFM index closed at 5,626 a fall of 0.99% from the previous close. 455 million shares traded worth 2 billion dirhams. Ten shares advanced and seventeen declined.
The top traded share was Deyaar falling 1.73% to 2.83 dirhams on volume of 81 million shares.
AIRARABIA also traded heavily falling 1.54% to 1.91 dirhams on volume of 61 million shares.

Other shares to fall included: Amlak Finance (AMLAK) 4.54 (2.15%), Du Telecom (DU) 6.13 (3.61%), DFM 6.56 (1.79%), Emaar Properties (EMAAR) 13.25 (1.11%), GULFNAV 1.63 (1.21%) and Union Properties (UPP) 4.70 (2.48%).

Shares to rise included: Dubai Investments (DIC) 5.48 (0.18%), Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) 6.41 (0.15%), Tabreed (TABREED) 3.29 (2.49%), Emirates NBD (ENBD) 13.75 (0.36%) and ALFIRDOUS 2.89 (11.15%) on limited volume.

Abu Dhabi Securities Market

The ADSM index closed at 4,507 a rise of 0.48% from the previous close. 344 million shares traded worth 1.6 billion dirhams. Twenty two shares advanced and seventeen declined.
The top traded share was ARKAN finishing up 9.38% on 3.73 dirhams with no sellers and 23 million shares wanted. 88 million shares were traded in todays session.

Other shares to rise included: Etisalat (ETISALAT) 23.65 (0.85%), NBS 3.28 (1.86%) and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) 6.87 (0.15%).
RAK Properties (RAKPROP) 2.16 and Aldar Properties (ALDAR) 11.00 both finished unchaged on heavy volume.

Shares to fall included: Aabar Petroleum (AABAR) 3.93 (1.01%), Commercial Bank International (CBI) 3.05 (1.29%), Dana Gas (DANA) 2.13 (1.39%), Oasis Leasing (OILC) 2.63 (0.38%) and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) 8.00 (0.87%).
