UAE market news & discussions for 15 December 2008Trading today was similar to yesterday with low turnover and both UAE markets continuing to slide: 0.61% to 1949 points for the DFM on turnover of AED 262m from 143m shares, and 0.71% to 2714 for the ADX on turnover of AED 86m from 41m shares. Arabtec was the only standout gainer in Dubai, up by 8.4%, and Aabar continued its rise in Abu Dhabi, up by another 5.8%. On the Nasdaq Dubai (DIFX), DP World is up 6.7% and Depa is up 2.2% as of 14:00 UAE time. European and Asian stocks rose today but US stock futures are down, indicating a lower open this evening UAE time, despite indications that the US auto manufacturers might get bailed out after all. Dubai Financial MarketEmaar Properties (EMAAR) topped the turnover list but with less than AED 100m worth of trading, and fell 1.6% to 2.99. Arabtec (ARTC) was up 8.4% to 4.78 and second highest by turnover with AED 57m worth of trading. The only other gainer on turnover of more than AED 1m was Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV), up by just 1.1% to 0.89. Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) was the worst of the losers, 10% limit down to 1.46 but with low volumes traded. Arab International Logistics (ARMX) fell 4.5%, Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) 4%, Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) 3.8% despite more share buybacks, Ajman Islamic Bank (AJMANBANK) 3.7% and the remainder falling less than 2% or on thin trading. Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeOnly Aldar Properties (ALDAR) (down just 1 fil to 5.26) and First Gulf Bank (FGB) (up just 1 fil to 9.20) saw more than AED 10m worth of trading in Abu Dhabi. Aabar Energy (AABAR) was up 5.8% to 2.39, National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) recovered somewhat by 2.9% to 8.99, Dana Gas (DANA) was up 1.4%, and the remaining 8 gainers were up less than 1% or on thin trading. Union National Bank (UNB) was the worst of the loser's on significant trading levels, falling by 8.6% to 2.67. Waha Capital (OILC) wasn't far behind with a 5.1% drop to 0.71, Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) fell 3.1%, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) 2.4%, Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) 1.6%, and the remainder fell less than 1.5% or on turnover of less than AED 1m. | |
