UAE markets 28 Dec 2009

UAE market news & discussions for 28 December 2009

The ADX rose 1.2% to 2728 points from low turnover of AED 155m. The DFM rose 3.4% from more solid turnover of AED 712m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1445 UAE time, only DP World has traded, up 3.65%.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock and second highest gainer, rising 5.6% to 3.96 from turnover of AED 339m. Arabtec (ARTC) was the standout gainer and the only other stock trading more than AED 100m, closing 15% limit up at 2.72 from AED 140m worth of deals. Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was up 4.8%, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) rose 4.6%, Union Properties (UPP) increased by 4.5%, Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) by 4.0%, and most other stocks were up less than 4%. There were only two losers, Global Investment House (GLOBAL) 10% limit down, and Al Salam Bank (SALAM_BAH) down 2.1%, both on low volumes. Ektitab Holding (EKTTITAB) was unchanged.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi but only traded AED 38m, rising 2.2% to 5.19. Waha Capital (OILC) was the standout gainer, closing 10% limit up at 0.89. Abu Dhabi National Building Materials (BILDCO) was also 10% limit up but from just one trade. Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) rose 3.6%, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) 2.7%, Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) 2.5%, and most other stocks were up less than 2.5% or on low volumes. There were six losers, including International Fish Farming (ASMAK) 10% limit down but from just one trade, and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) down 0.35%, the only loser trading more than AED 1m worth.

    UAE markets 27 Dec 2009

    UAE market news & discussions for 27 December 2009

    The ADX edged down by 0.11% to 2696 points, with turnover low at AED 114m. The DFM rose by 0.57% to 1769 points with modest turnover of AED 331m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1430 UAE time, only DP World has traded so far, unchanged from yesterday.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the only stock trading more than AED 100m worth, rising 2.2% to 3.75 from AED 153m worth of trades. Arabtec (ARTC) was the best of the more actively traded gainers, up 6.3% to 2.37. Gulf Finance House (GFH) rose 3.7%, Arab International Logistics (ARMX) 3.2%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 3% or on low volumes. There were five losers, with the newly listed HITS Telecom the worst, falling 6.0% to 1.26. Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) fell 5.1%, Emirates NBD (ENBD) 4.4%, and Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) and Ajman Islamic Bank (AJMANBANK) fell less than 2%.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi, falling 0.8% to 4.98 from AED 29m worth of deals. Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) and Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) were the top gainers, closing 10% limit up. The other gainers rose less 2% or on low volumes. National Marine Dredging (NMDC) was the worst loser, down 8.8% to 7.50, Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) fell 1.4% on relatively active trading, and the other losers fell on low volumes.

    The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) index closed up 1.35% at 1759 recovering some of the losses from yesterday.
    Volume remains light with 221 million shares traded worth 457 million dirhams. 28 shares traded with 16 advancing, 8 declining and 4 unchanged.
    Major movers included Arabtec (ARTC) up 2.29%, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) and Emaar Properties (EMAAR) up 2.23% and Union Properties (UPP) up 1.5%.

    The ADX index closed up 0.18% at 2698.
    52 million shares traded worth 134 million dirhams. 32 shares traded with 15 advancing, 11 declining and 6 unchanged
    In banking movers included Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) up 3.87% and SIB up 2.13%
    For Realestate Aldar Properties (ALDAR) fell by 0.40% and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) was down 0.39%.
    Aabar Energy (AABAR), Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) and Dana Gas (DANA) all fell by 1.00% or less
    Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) continued to climb up 0.88%
    In Telecoms Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) closed unchanged at 10.75
