UAE market news & discussions for 10 January 2010

The ADX rose slightly while the DFM fell, with the announcement of the Aabar investment in Arabtec prompting a rise in Aabar shares but a fall in Arabtec on heavy trading, indicating that the market didn't think the deal was so positive for Arabtec shareholders. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1500 UAE time, DP World is the only stock traded, up 4.35% to $0.48.

    The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) fell 1.2% to 1814 points from turnover of AED 673m. Arabtec (ARTC) was the worst loser and most actively traded stock, down 6.9% to 2.69 from AED 342m of trading. Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m, down 2.5% to 3.95. Union Properties (UPP) fell 2.7%, Ajman Islamic Bank (AJMANBANK) was down 2.1%, and the remaining losers were down less than 2% or on low volumes. Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) was the best of the more active gainers, up 2.0% to 3.05, Gulf Finance House (GFH) rose 1.85%, Arab International Logistics (ARMX) increased by 1.2%, Drake & Scull (DSI) and Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) rose 1.1%, Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) was up 0.43%, and the remaining losers were up on low volumes.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    The ADX rose 0.2% to 2781 points from turnover of AED 174m with Aabar Energy (AABAR) the standout gainer and top traded stock, up 4.6% to 2.52 from AED 74m worth of trading. National Marine Dredging (NMDC) closed 10% limit up from just under AED 1m worth of deals, Dana Gas (DANA) was up 1.0%, and the other gainers were up less than 1% or on low volumes. Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the worst of the more active losers, down just 1.35% to 5.09, Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) fell 1.2%, Waha Capital (OILC) was down 1.1%, and the remaining losers fell less than 1% or on low volumes. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) was up 0.45% and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) fell 0.40%.

    UAE market news & discussions for 07 January 2010

    Both markets rose less than 1% with Aabar and Arabtec showing strong gains on heavy trading. Rumours of an Aabar purchase of a stake in Arabtec in recent weeks were denied by both companies. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1445 UAE time, DP World is up 2.2%, Depa is down 2.9%, and Damas is up 5.3%.

    The ADX rose 0.32% to 2776 points from turnover of AED 204m with Aabar Energy (AABAR) standing out as top traded stock, rising a solid 5.2% to 2.47 from AED 82m worth of trading. Top gainer was Union Cement (UCC) closing 10% limit up but from thin trading. Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH) was the best of the more active gainers, up 6.9% to 4.19. Finance House (FH) rose 6.7%, and the remaining gainers rose less than 2% or on low volumes. Several stocks closed unchanged, including Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT), National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH), and Union National Bank (UNB).

    The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) rose 0.95% to 1837 points from turnover of AED 720m with Arabtec (ARTC) the standout gainer, up 6.25% to 2.89 from AED 289m worth of trading. Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m, slightly more than Arabtec with AED 301m worth and a 0.25% rise to 4.05. Union Properties (UPP) was up 4.2%, Gulf Finance House (GFH) rose 2.9%, Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) 2.3%, Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) and Ajman Islamic Bank (AJMANBANK) 2.2%, and the remaining gainers up less than 2% or on low volumes. There were 6 losers including Dubai Insurance (DIN) and National Cement Company (NCC) 5% limit down, and Global Investment House (GLOBAL) the worst with an 8.3% fall but none traded more than AED 1m worth.

    UAE market news & discussions for 06 January 2010

    Abu Dhabi fell due mostly to slight falls in Etisalat and NBAD, while Dubai was almost unchanged with a slight rise in Emaar. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1430 UAE time, DP World is up 1.4%, Damas is down 5%, and DGS is down 0.51%.

    The ADX fell 0.29% to 2767 points from turnover of AED 157m. Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock with AED 53m worth of trading, and rose 1.15% to 5.20. Abu Dhabi National Takaful (TKFL) and Invest Bank (INVESTB) were the top gainers, closing 10% limit up but from just three small trades between them. Waha Capital (OILC) was the best of the more active gainers, up 5.5% to 0.96. Dana Gas (DANA) rose 2.0%, and the other gainers were up less than 2% or on low volumes. Aabar Energy (AABAR) was the worst of the more active losers, down 1.3% to 2.28, and the remaining losers fell less than 1% or on low volumes. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) fell 0.89% and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) fell 0.40%.

    The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) edged ahead slightly by 0.06% to 1820 points from turnover of AED 326m. Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock in Dubai, rising 0.50% to 4.04 from AED 198m, and the only stock trading more than AED 100m worth. There were only 5 gainers with National General Cooling (TABREED) up 1.9%, Union Properties (UPP) up 1.4%, National General Cooling (TABREED) up 1.2%, and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) up 0.34%. Several stocks closed unchanged, including Dubai Financial Market (DFM), Drake & Scull (DSI), Deyaar Development (DEYAAR), and Air Arabia (AIRARABIA). Gulf Finance House (GFH) was the worst of the more active losers, down 3.7% to 1.05, Ektitab Holding (EKTTITAB) fell 1.45%, Ajman Islamic Bank (AJMANBANK) 1.1%, Dubai Investment Company (DIC) 1.0%, and the remainder fell less than 1% or on low volumes.
