UAE markets 05 Jan 2010

UAE market news & discussions for 05 January 2010

Both markets rose although marginally in Dubai, and volumes were up somewhat in Abu Dhabi with heavier trading in Aldar. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1545 UAE time, DP World is up 0.71%, Damas is down 11.9%, and DGS is up 1.3%.

    The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) index move ahead marginally, up 0.09% to 1819 points from turnover of AED 540m. Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the only stock trading more than AED 100m worth in Dubai, closing unchanged at 4.02 from AED 324m. Gulf Finance House (GFH) was the top gainer, up 7.9% to 1.09, Dubai Investment Company (DIC) rose 3.0%, Union Properties (UPP) 2.9%, Ajman Islamic Bank (AJMANBANK) 2.2%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 2% or on low volumes. National Cement Company (NCC) and Dubai Insurance (DIN) were the worst losers, 5% limit down but from low volumes. Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) was the worst of the more active stocks, falling 1.7%, Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) fell 1.1%, Drake & Scull (DSI) 1.1%, and the other losers were down less than 1% or on low volumes. Several stocks were unchanged including Arabtec (ARTC), National General Cooling (TABREED), and Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB).

    The ADX rose 0.60% to 2775 points from turnover of AED 324m. Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the only stock trading more than AED 100m, rising 3.4% to 5.24 from AED 151m worth. Al Khazna Insurance (AKIC) was the top gainer, 10% limit up but from just two small trades, Dana Gas (DANA) was the best of the more actively traded stocks, up 5.3% to 0.99, Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) rose 3.7%, First Gulf Bank (FGB) was up 3.0%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 2% or on low trading. Invest Bank (INVESTB) and National Bank of Umm Al Quwain (NBQ) were the worst losers, 10% limit down, with significantly higher turnover of AED 12.7m worth for Invest Bank albeit from just one trade. No other losers traded more than AED 1m worth. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) rose 0.45%, and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was up 1.2%.

    UAE markets 04 Jan 2010

    UAE market news & discussions for 04 January 2010

    UAE stocks fell on the day of the opening ceremony of the Burj Dubai, with low trading in Abu Dhabi, and Emaar leading the way down in Dubai on much more substantial volumes, and almost all traded stocks in the red. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1515 UAE time, DP World is down 2.1%, Depa is up 4.6%, and DGS is up 1.0%.

    The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) fell 2.6% to 1817 points with turnover of AED 976m, with two-thirds of that from Emaar Properties (EMAAR), down 3.4% to 4.02 from AED 669m. Arabtec (ARTC) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m, down 4.2% to 2.7% from AED 123m. HITS Telecom was the worst loser, 10% limit down but on low volumes. The rarely traded International Financial Advisers (IFA) was the worst loser on turnover of more than AED 1m, down 5.8% from one large trade. Gulf Finance House (GFH) fell 4.7%, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) fell 4.1%, and the other losers fell between 2% and 4%, or on low volumes, except for Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV) which was the least bad loser, down 1.6%. Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) was the only gainer, up 1.7% to 1.19 from low volumes.

    The ADX fell 0.51% to 2759 points from turnover of AED 86m, with Aldar Properties (ALDAR), down 0.2%, and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH), up 0.74%, the only two stocks trading more than AED 10m. Abu Dhabi National Insurance (ADNIC) and Invest Bank (INVESTB) were the worst losers, both closing 10% limit down but on low volumes. Waha Capital (OILC) was the worst loser on turnover of more than AED 1m (just), down 2.15% to 0.90. Dana Gas (DANA) fell 1.0%, and the other losers were down less than 1% or on low volumes. Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH) was the best gainer, 10% limit up but from just one trade. Sorouh was the only gainer trading more than AED 1m. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) fell 0.89% and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) fell 0.40%.

    UAE markets 03 Jan 2010

    UAE market news & discussions for 03 January 2010

    Both UAE markets were in the green with solid gains on high volumes in Dubai, led by Emaar and Arabtec. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1415 UAE time, DP World is down 4.2% and Depa is down 9.8%.

    The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) rose 3.4% to 1866 points from turnover of AED 908m with over half of that from Emaar Properties (EMAAR), up 7.8% to 4.16 from AED 508m worth, and the best of the more active gainers. Arabtec (ARTC) was the only other stock trading more than AED 100m worth, up 6.3% to 2.85 from AED 184m. HITS Telecom was the top gainer, up 11.2% but from just two trades. Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) rose 6.9% to 0.62, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was up 4.8%, Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) 4.6%, Dubai Islamic Insurance (AMAN) 4.1%, Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) 4.0%, and most other stocks were up less than 4%. There were only three losers, Gulf General Investment (GGICO) the worst, closing 5% limit down at 1.05 from low volumes, and Gulf Finance House (GFH) the only loser trading more than AED 1m worth, down 0.93%.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    The ADX rose 1.05% to 2772 points from turnover of AED 135m with Aldar Properties (ALDAR), up 1.2% to 5.06 from AED 45m of turnover, and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH), up 4.2% to 2.75 from AED 36m, the only two stocks trading more than AED 10m worth. Top gainer was National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCTH) closing 10% limit up at 9.20 but from just two trade. Sorouh was the best of the more active gainers, Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) rose 3.45%, Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) 3.4%, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) 3.2%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 3% or on low volumes. Al Buhaira National Insurance (ABNIC) was the worst loser, 10% limit down at 9.27 from greater than usual volumes. Finance House (FH) fell 1.7%, Waha Capital (OILC) was down 1.1%, and the other losers fell on low turnover. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) rose 2.3% to 11.20, and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was unchanged at 12.40.
