UAE market news & discussions for 08 September 2009

The ADX rose 0.72% to 2977 points from turnover of AED 295m. The DFM rose 1.3% to 1996 points from turnover of just over AED 1 billion, with Deyaar leaping ahead. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 14:30 UAE time, DP World is down 2.6%, Depa is up 1.7%, Damas is unchanged after one trade, Citigold fell 11.7% from a rare trade, and there have been single derivative trades in Aabar, DIB, and Shuaa Capital.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most heavily traded stock with AED 245m of trading but share price closed unchanged at 3.80. Arabtec (ARTC) rose 0.32% from AED 201m worth of deals, and Dubai Financial Market (DFM) rose 1.0% from AED 151m of turnover to join the trio of stocks trading more than AED 100m for the day. Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) was the standout gainer, up 8.2% to 0.79 on solid trading, Al Salam Bank Sudan (ALSALAMSUDAN) was the top gainer, up 10.3% from higher than usual, Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV) was up 4.1%, Dubai Investment Company (DIC) rose 3.3%, Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) and Emirates NBD (ENBD) 2.5%, and most other stocks were in the green by less than 2.5% or unchanged. There were only 2 losers, Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) and Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC), both falling about 1%.

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) dominated trading in Abu Dhabi with AED 89m worth of deals, and had a marginal gain of just 0.19% to 5.29. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) was the best of the more active gainers, up 4.5% to 2.10 on higher than usual volumes, 5 other gainers rose more than 5% but on low turnover, Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) was up 2.7%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 2%, including National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) up 0.72%. The rarely traded Al Ain Ahlia Insurance (AAAIC) was the worst loser on turnover of more than AED 1m (although it was only 2 trades), plummeting 9.4% to 58.00. First Gulf Bank (FGB) fell 3.0% to 16.05, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) fell 1.2%, Union National Bank (UNB) 1.0%, and the remaining losers were down less than 1% or on low volumes.

    UAE market news & discussions for 07 September 2009

    The ADX rose 0.77% to 2956 points from turnover of AED 386m. The DFM rose 0.62% to 1970 points from solid turnover of more than AED 1.1 billion, Emaar and Arabtec making up about two-thirds of the total. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 15:15 UAE time, Depa and DP World are unchanged, and yet again Depa is ahead of DP World on traded value. There have been single trades in Damas (unchanged) and some derivatives (all in the green).

    Dubai Financial Market

    Massive trading in Arabtec (ARTC) today as it took top spot in the traded value list with almost AED 400m worth of deals, and top spot in the gainers list (except for single small trade in Global Investment House), with a solid 5.8% rise despite substantial insider selling. Other gainers included Dubai Islamic Insurance (AMAN) up 4%, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) up 3.7%, Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) up 2.6%, and Emaar Properties (EMAAR) up 1.6% with turnover of AED 336m. DIS rose 1.1% and the remaining gainers were up less than 1% or on low volumes. Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) was the worst loser on more than AED 1m worth of trading, down 4.35% to 3.30, Gulf General Investment (GGICO) fell 1.8%, Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV) and Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) 1.35%, Arab International Logistics (ARMX) 1.2%, and the remainder by less than 1% except for a couple of trades in Gulf Finance House (GFH), 10% limit down.

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was up 2.9% from AED 127m worth of trading, the only stock trading more than AED 100m in Abu DHabi. one of the top 6 gainers saw more than AED 100k worth of shares traded. Sharjah Islamic Bank (NBS) was the top gainer on more than AED 1m worth of deals, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) was up 2.5%, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and Sudan Telecom (SUDATEL) were up 1.5%, Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) 1.4%, National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) 1.1%, and the remaining gainers rose on low volumes. Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) was the worst of the more active losers, down 2.4%, Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) fell 2.3%, Aabar Energy (AABAR) 1.9%, and the remainder fell less than 1.5% or on low volumes.

    UAE market news & discussions for 06 September 2009

    The ADX rose 1.6% to 2933 points from improved volumes of AED 449m, the DFM rose almost 2% to 1958 points with turnover also up at AED 766m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 15:30 UAE time, only two listings have traded, Depa unchanged and DP World up 0.23%, although somewhat surprisingly, on much lower volumes than Depa.

    Emaar Properties (EMAAR) led the more active gainers with a solid 6.55% boost to 3.74 and was also the most active stock with almost AED 400m worth of deals - more than half the total for Dubai today. Al Salam International Investment (SALAM) was the top gainer with a 13.4% rise. Union Properties (UPP) was up 3.3%, National General Cooling (TABREED) 2.2%, and most other stocks were up less than 2% or unchanged. Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) was the only actively traded stock in the red, falling by 2.4% to 2.00. The other 5 losers fell on turnover of less than AED 1m between them.

    Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) (+5.5% to 3.30) and Aldar Properties (ALDAR) (+6.0% to 5.23) were the standout stocks in Abu Dhabi with solid gains and each trading more than AED 100m worth. Top gainers on more than AED 1m worth of deals were Sharjah Insurance (SICO) up 7.3% and Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) up 7.05%. Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC) was up 3.05%, Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) up 2.7%, and the remaining gainers were up less than 2.5% or on low volumes. National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) and Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) both rose about 1% each, the other large Abu Dhabi banks, First Gulf Bank (FGB), Union National Bank (UNB), and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), all rose over 2%. There were 4 losers, Gulf Cement (GCEM), Ras Al Khaimah White Cement (RAKWCT), Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (JULPHAR), and National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCTH), none trading in significant quantities.
