Big market news for today was of course the results of the Emaar AGM. Perhaps not the best day to hear about the start of the Air Arabia IPO - it kicks off on 18 Mar 2007.

Dubai Financial Market

DFM promptly plummeted on opening from 4090 to 3962 as shareholders hammered Emaar shares after the AGM voted a 20% cash dividend. The index then recovered to 4010 within minutes and drifted about the 4000 level for the rest of the session. Total volume for the DFM of AED 1.2 billion and a 2% fall to close at 4010. Emaar Properties PJSC (EMAAR) ended down by 5.1% to close at 12.05 with a total of 757m dhs worth of shares traded - over 60% of the total for DFM.

The only two stocks from the active list to increase were Arabtec Holding PJSC (ARTC) up 1.1% and Tamweel PJSC (TAMWEEL) up 1.6% with a healthy looking 45m dhs worth of shares traded.

DFM shares crashed another 3.1% to 2.12 with 161m dhs worth traded. The remaining actively traded stocks fell between 0-2%.

Abu Dhabi Securities Market

ADSM was moderately busy today despite all the action at DFM. The index fell 1.5% to close only just above 3000 points on volumes of 211m dhs worth of trading.

A big increase of 6.3% to 3.23 on reasonable volume for TKFL was the only noteworthy rise today. Small increases on moderate volumes for National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) up 1.2%, and less than 1% increases for Abu Dhabi National Company for Building Materials (BILDCO), First Gulf Bank (FGB), and Gulf Cement Company (GCEM).

Most stocks fell with big falls on significant volumes for Union National Bank (UNB) down a scary 5.8% to 6.79, Dana Gas PJSC (DANA) down 3.4% to 1.44, Aldar Properties PJSC (ALDAR) down 3.7% to 4.12, Ras Al Khaimah Properties PJSC (RAKPROP) down 2.9%, and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) down a less frightening 1.9%.

Dubai Financial Market

Another quietish day for the Dubai Financial Market ahead of Emaar's AGM tonight which will be followed with interest, especially the question of whether or not they'll be paying out a dividend. The DFM index (DFMGI) dropped 1.2% to 4089 points on volumes of 446m dhs worth of trading.

ACICO was the only company to show a gain today up 3.6% on a single small trade.

Emaar Properties PJSC (EMAAR) fell 0.8% to 12.70 on low volume of 162m dhs worth of trading in advance of Emaar's AGM today at 5 pm. DFM shares had the most notable fall of almost 4% to 2.19 on 156m dhs worth of trading. Other significant falls of 2.3% for National Bank of Dubai (NBD), about 2% for Shuaa Capital PJSC (SHUAA) and Tamweel PJSC (TAMWEEL), 1.5% for National General Cooling Company PJSC (TABREED) and the remaining actively traded stocks fell by 1% or less.

Abu Dhabi Securities Market

ADSM up just 0.3% to 3048, total volume down from some of the big days last week with 189m dhs worth of trading. About half of that from trading in Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) shares with a jump of 5.9% to 55.00 dhs. Gulf Cement Company (GCEM) rose 4.6% on decent volume (for them) of 9.6m dhs of trading, and Dana Gas PJSC (DANA) up 1.4% were the other rises of note. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Emirates Telecommunications Company (ETISALAT), Ras Al Khaimah Properties PJSC (RAKPROP), Aabar Petroleum Investments Company PJSC (AABAR), Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) all rose about 1% or less.

Limit down for OEIHC on trivial volume but there have been several limit down, or almost limit down, days in the past month or so since they listed.

Aldar Properties PJSC (ALDAR) and Oasis International Leasing Company PJSC (OILC) had the most significant drops of about 2% each while First Gulf Bank (FGB), Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), AGTHIA, and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) all fell about 1%.

Dubai Financial Market

The DFMGI headed north today but on low volumes of 497m dhs worth, closing 0.7% up at 4140 points with little notable movement except, unsurprisingly, in the shares of National Bank of Dubai (NBD) and Emirates Bank International Group (EBI); and high volume in DFM shares.

The trading suspension for National Bank of Dubai and Emirates Bank shares was lifted today after their chairmen provided DFM and ESCA with some clarification on the merger announced yesterday. Not particularly enlightening though. Both stocks were up 5% on higher than normal volumes but not anything significant.

DFM shares were the most heavily traded by value - 196m dhs worth and a 3% fall to 2.28. Emaar Properties PJSC (EMAAR) volume still low at 153m dhs worth and a small 0.4% rise to 12.80. Other actively traded stocks moved by less than 1% on moderate to low volumes.

Abu Dhabi Securities Market

ADSM had a marginal rise of 0.1% to 3084 points on good volume of 271m dhs with an even split between stocks rising and stocks falling in price. Over a third of the total value was from trading in Aldar Properties PJSC (ALDAR) shares which tanked by 6.8% to close at 4.36. Record date of 12 March 2007, share sales to founders, and foreign ownership allowance news all together making for a fun day trying to work out what was happening.

Oasis International Leasing Company PJSC (OILC) traded very heavily today with a small rise of 1.4% and 42m dhs worth of shares traded putting it at number two on the ADSM volume list today (by value). Other heavily traded stocks were Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) down 1.1%, Dana Gas PJSC (DANA) down 2%, and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) down 0.4%. None of the other more active shares changed by more than 1% or so.

A relatively busy day for ASMAK up 7.3% and Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) up 8.8%.

Dubai Financial Market

A big day for DFM today with its own shares being listed and, unsurprisingly, showing a large paper gain on the par value of 1 dh per share. DFM stock traded between 2.22 and 2.60 dhs, finally closing at 2.35. Volume of trading substantial as expected. Over 350m shares changed hands with a huge value of 852m dhs - about 80% of DFM's total traded value of 1.1 billion dhs. The DFM index overall barely moved, down by just 0.01% with an even split between stocks rising and stocks falling. Biggest rise of note was just 1% for Tamweel PJSC (TAMWEEL), biggest fall was 0.8% for GULFNAV (ignoring movements for DFM and low volume stocks). Emaar Properties PJSC (EMAAR) was up by 0.4% to 12.75 on a very low 77m dhs worth of trading.

NBD and EBI shares had trading suspended today at least, and possibly longer while ESCA and DFM sort out the news (they must have been pleased to find out from the press) about the surprise merger of National Bank of Dubai and Emirates Bank.

Abu Dhabi Securities Market

An unpleasant day over at ADSM while DFM was in the spotlight. The index fell 1.4% to 3036 on moderate volumes of 126m dhs of trading with only two shares rising on any significant volumes. Oasis International Leasing Company PJSC (OILC) was up 1.3% to 9.56 and Qatar Telecom (QTEL) rocked ahead by 9.4% to 246.40 but from just over 1 million dhs worth of trades. The worst of the losers were Aabar Petroleum Investments Company PJSC (AABAR) down 5.7% to 2.33 on lowish volume and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) down 6.5% to 52.55 on moderate volume - no doubt a bit of profit taking going on for both stocks after recent sharp gains. Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) also got a bit of a kick, down 3.8% to 2.01. Aldar Properties PJSC (ALDAR) price remained unchanged on low volumes, the announcement that founders could sell their shares not appearing to affect the price.

Last chance to throw in your guess for DFM opening price, DFM shares will be listed tomorrow - Wed 07 Mar 2007. Add your vote to the poll and let's see how close the DubaiShareTalkers are to the opening price.

The TAMWEEL used the word "correction" in their most recent property market comments. If share prices depended on number of times a company talked up the value of property, Tamweel's would be booming. In the same article, the Gulf News renamed the new MAZAYA and TAMWEEL development from Q Point to Queue Point - perhaps that will prove to be a more accurate description at launch.

Continuing in the same vein (or perhaps vane or vain?), the Gulf News also headlines a new type of investment called an EFT. Unfortunately, they don't elaborate. Instead, the news focuses on the possible listing of ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) on ADSM.

Dubai Financial Market

The DFMGI was down by 1.2% to close at 4113 points with 900m dhs worth of shares traded. Islamic Arab Insurance Company PSC (IAIC) Salama had the biggest fall of 7.9% to 2.93 on impressive volume of 261m dhs, not far behind Emaar Properties PJSC (EMAAR) volume of 298m dhs but a less dramatic fall of 2% to 12.70 dhs. Gulf News reported that the Islamic Arab Insurance share buyback announcement drove the price up yesterday - odd since the announcement is a month old. Other big drops from Amlak Finance Company (AMLAK) down 5.5%, Aramex PJSC (ARMX) down 4.1%, and Union Properties PJSC (UPP) down 3%, and GULFNAV down 2.5%. National Bank of Dubai (NBD) the only stock to rise on tangible volumes, by just 0.5% from 4.4m dhs worth of trading.

Abu Dhabi Securities Market

ADSM had a small drop of 0.2% to 3079 points from a still decent 264m dhs worth of trading. A bit less than half of that from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), with a 4.4% rise to 56.20. However, by the close of the session their shares were trading at 54.40 and the bull run of the previous couple of days appears to be over. Aabar Petroleum Investments Company PJSC (AABAR) was up another 1.7% to 2.47 on still weighty volumes of 31m dhs, while Gulf Cement Company (GCEM) was relatively more notable for its lofty 6.9% hike to 4.72 and a sizeable 15m dhs worth of trading, their audited financial results for 2006 were released today. Other rises worth noting were First Gulf Bank (FGB) up 1.2% and Ras Al Khaimah Cement Company (RAKCC) up 1%. Most actively traded stocks fell less than 1% with the exception of Abu Dhabi National Company for Building Materials (BILDCO) down 1.9% and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) down 2.3%.

Both DFM and ADSM rebounded today with ADSM volumes increasing again. New listing today for Dubai Development Company (DDC) on DFM with zero interest from investors. Not a single order in the bid or offer column. No doubt the listing of DFM shares on Thursday 07 March 2007 will be a different story.

Annual General Meetings tomorrow for Union National Bank (UNB), Commercial Bank International (CBI), NGI. DHAFRA Record Date coming up on 07 March 2007.

Dubai Financial Market

The DFMGI rose a solid 1.4% on decent enough volume of 883m dhs worth of trading. Almost all the actively traded stocks rose, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (DU) the only exception with price unchanged at the end of the day.

Islamic Arab Insurance Company PSC (IAIC) Salama the outstanding performer today, rising 7.1% from a massive 293m dhs worth of deals. Emaar Properties PJSC (EMAAR) kept the top volume spot though and was up by 2.8% on 344m dhs worth of shares traded.

The best of the list of rising stocks were Amlak Finance Company (AMLAK) up 4.1%, Aramex PJSC (ARMX) up 4.7%, Dubai Investments PJSC (DIC) up 2.5%, GULFNAV up 2.5%, National General Cooling Company PJSC (TABREED) up 3%, and Union Properties PJSC (UPP) up 3.4%. Only 4 stocks fell and all on just one or two trades.

Abu Dhabi Securities Market

ADSM was up by 0.6% on healthy volume of 384m dhs worth. All the actively traded shares rose with Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) steaming up another 8.7% today and 81m dhs worth of shares traded. Volume no doubt restricted by shares trading at limit up price for the second day in a row, with no sellers in the queue at the close of the trading session. Expect another big day for them tomorrow.

Big rises and volumes also from Aabar Petroleum Investments Company PJSC (AABAR) up 6.1%, and Dana Gas PJSC (DANA) up 4.7%. Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) traded heavily but had a more moderate rise of 1.8%, similarly for Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) up 1.9%, and Aldar Properties PJSC (ALDAR) up 0.4%. Emirates Telecommunications Company (ETISALAT) traded low volumes and price was unchanged.

No significant losers today. Big drop for Finance House PJSC (FH) was from a single trade of just 134 shares - less than 1000 dhs worth.

Dubai Financial Market

DFM continued its lacklustre performance with another 0.9% drop to 4104 points on moderate volumes of 527m dhs worth of shares traded. Emaar Properties PJSC (EMAAR) made a fuss about its Burj Dubai tower reaching 110 floors and the market showed its lack of interest - price unchanged with only 204m dhs worth of trades.

Only two stocks showed any significant movement on volumes of note. Islamic Arab Insurance Company PSC (IAIC) Salama shot up 4.6% on a large 136m dhs worth, while Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) collapsed by 5.1% from a less hectic 67m dhs worth of trading. Other active stocks moved by less than 1% with Amlak Finance Company (AMLAK), AMAN and Tamweel PJSC (TAMWEEL) the only ones to increase. ACICO was noted for the smallest volume of the day - a single deal of just 100 shares. National Bank of Dubai (NBD) fell almost 2% but on low volume.

Abu Dhabi Securities Market

ADSM had a marginal fall of 0.15% to close at 3066 points. Total value traded of 147m dhs back to more normal levels after some high volume days last week.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) went limit up to 50.70 dhs with no sellers in the queue today, restricting volumes to a still noteworthy 30m dhs worth. Interest probably related to the ADIB sukuk issue for Emirates Investment and possible takeover.

The only other shares to increase on volumes of any significance were First Gulf Bank (FGB) up 2%, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) up 0.4%, and Sudan Telecom Company Ltd (SUDATEL) up 0.1%. Other big increase from very low trading volumes.

Most stocks on the active list fell, with the energy shares hit hardest. Aabar Petroleum Investments Company PJSC (AABAR) down 4.6%, Dana Gas PJSC (DANA) down 2.6%, and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) down 3.7%.

Despite the turmoil in world markets sparked off by the Shanghai hangover the DFM and ADSM have recorded slight falls of less than one per cent to finish the trading week. As the markets here have not enjoyed a happy 2006 it stands to reason they should be fairly robust as other markets in the world adjust.

Dubai Financial Market

The fall continues with the DFM index ending at 4,140 down .78%. 117 million shares changed hands with a total value traded of 617 million dirhams. Two stocks advanced, thirteen declined and four were unchanged.

The two stocks advancing included Emirates Bank International Group (EBI) 13.40 (1.9%) and Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) 8.63(1.17%).
The top decliners included GULFNAV 1.19(3.25%), Aramex PJSC (ARMX) 2.13(3.18%), Tamweel PJSC (TAMWEEL) 3.81(2.8%), Amlak Finance Company (AMLAK) 3.86(2.03%), Emaar Properties PJSC (EMAAR) 12.60(1.94%).

Abu Dhabi Securities Market
