UAE market news & discussions for 30 July 2009

The ADX rose 1.5% to 2801 from low turnover of AED 147m. The DFM rose just 0.41% to 1818 points from turnover of AED 431m, a fall in ENBD holding the index back despite better gains in many more actively traded stocks. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 14:15 UAE time, DP World is up 1.4% to $0.36, and there have been single trades in Depa, and derivatives for Dana, Arabtec, and FGB, none moving by more than 1%.

    Arab International Logistics (ARMX) was the most heavily traded stock in Dubai with almost AED 60m worth of deals and solid gains in the first few minutes of trading but by close had fallen 0.6% to 1.65. Union Properties (UPP) (+2.9%), Emaar Properties (EMAAR) (+1.1%), Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) (+2.0%), and Drake & Scull (DSI) (+3.5%) all traded about AED 50m worth each. Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) was the best of the more active gainers with a 4.1% rise to 0.76. Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was up 2.4%, and the remaining gainers rose less than 2% or on low volumes. National General Cooling (TABREED) was the worst of the more active losers, falling 1.05%, and the only loser falling more than 1% on active trading. Emirates NBD (ENBD) fell 1.8% on low volumes.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi with just AED 25m but still only rose 1.4% to 0.73. National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was the star stock with an 8.6% rise to 13.75 from greater than usual activity, and most of the day's deals going through at the high for the day of 14.00. Dana Gas (DANA) rose 2.7%, Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) and Aldar Properties (ALDAR) rose 2.6%, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) rose 2.5%, and the remaining gainers rose less than 2% or on thin trading, including Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) up 0.49% to 10.20. Ras Al Khaimah White Cement (RAKWCT) was the worst loser on active trading, falling 5.7% to 0.99 from greater than usual activity but still only AED 2.7m worth. Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (JULPHAR) was also relatively busy and fell 2.5%. Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) was the only other loser on turnover of more than AED 1m, falling 0.79%.

    UAE markets 29 Jul 2009

    UAE market news & discussions for 29 July 2009

    The ADX edged down by just 0.12% to 2760 points from limited turnover of AED 164m. The DFM fell 0.93% to 1811 points from turnover of AED 391m, with most stocks down, although Aramex and UPP were the exceptions on heavy trading, leaving one wondering if Q2 news leaked into the market during trading. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 16:00 UAE time, DP World is unchanged at $0.36, GOLD is down 1.9%, and one Aramex derivative has traded, rising 11%.

    No stocks traded more than AED 100m in Dubai today, but Union Properties (UPP) was a surprise with at the top of the list with AED 94m worth, while shares rose 0.98% to 1.03, making it one of only 2 gainers on significant volumes. No information on Q2 results for Union Properties seen yet but the share price behaviour might indicate that some news has leaked already. Speaking of leaks, top gainer was Arab International Logistics (ARMX) with a 5.1% rise to 1.66, the price rising sharply about an hour before trading finished. Aramex results were officially released after close of trading. The only other two gainers were Al Salam Bank (SALAM_BAH) and Shuaa Capital (SHUAA), both rising less than 1% on low volumes. Dubai Financial Market (DFM) was the worst of the more active losers, falling 2.9% to 1.68, followed by Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) down 2.7%. Dubai Investment Company (DIC) fell 2.4%, Drake & Scull (DSI) 2.3%, and the remainder by less than 2% or on low turnover. Emaar Properties (EMAAR) fell 1.8% to 2.71.

    Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

    Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi, falling 2.5% to 3.94 but with only AED 30m worth of deals. National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) released Q2 results and announced a 10% share buyback, prompting a rise of 5.8% to 12.95 and making it the best of the more active gainers. The only other gainer trading more than AED 1m worth was Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ), up just 0.38%. Emirates Driving Company (DRIVE) was the worst of the more active losers, falling 3.5% to 3.91. Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) fell 2.0%, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) 1.8%, Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) 1.55%, and the remainder by less than 1.5% or on turnover of less than AED 1m. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) fell 0.49% to 10.25.

    The UAE markets close flat today on moderate volume.
    The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) index closed at 1,827 unchanged from the previous close. 183 million shares were traded worth 300 million dirhams. 9 shares advanced and 14 declined.

    Trading was lead by Arabtec (ARTC) up 1.85% to 2.76, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) up 0.58% to 1.73, Emaar Properties (EMAAR) down 0.36% to 2.76 and Union Properties (UPP) down 1.92 to 1.02.

    The ADX index closed at 2,762 a rise of 0.26% from the previous close. 92 million shares were traded worth 176 million dirhams. 14 shares advanced and 20 declined.

    In banking Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) up 2.11% to 1.94, First Gulf Bank (FGB) up 3.44 to 16.55 and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) up 4.33% to 12.05 continued to rally. WAHA was also up by 2.44% to 0.83.
    Realestate stocks all retreated Aldar Properties (ALDAR) down 2.20% and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) down 1.39%.
    Energy were also all down with Aabar Energy (AABAR) down 2.16%, Dana Gas (DANA) down 1.74% and Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) down 2.53%.
    In construction trading was lead by Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) down 1.53% to 1.29.
    Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) closed down 0.97% at 10.20.
