UAE markets 29 Jan 2009

UAE market news & discussions for 29 January 2009

After a positive week both UAE markets retreated today on relatively light volumes.
The DFM index closed 1.05% lower at 1,520 with 146 million shares traded worth Dh180 million.
Trading was lead by ARTC down 4.13%, DFM down 1.13% and EMAAR down 3.44%.
The ADX index closed just 0.20% lower at 2,255 with 94 million shares traded worth Dh246 million.
trading was dominated by just three stocks, FGB down 3.17%, ALDAR up 1.59% and SOROUH down 3.68%

Dubai Financial Market

On the Dubai Financial Market 4 stocks advanced and 16 declined.
Gainers included: Ajman Islamic Bank (AJMANBANK) 0.82 (1.23%), Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) 2.00 (1.52%) and Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) 1.24 limit up with no sellers.
All the major traders lost ground including: Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV) down 3.57%, Emaar Properties (EMAAR) down 3.44%, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) down 1.13% Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) down 1.85%, Arabtec (ARTC) down 4.13% and Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) down 1.05%.

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

On the ADX 14 stocks advanced and 14 declined.
Banks had a mixed day lead by First Gulf Bank (FGB) down 3.17% and Waha down by 3.70%. However, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) up 3.86% and Bank of Sharjah (BOS) up 9.73% ended in positive territory.
In Realestate, honours were split with Aldar Properties (ALDAR) up 1.59% and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) down 3.68%.
Energy was mostly down, Aabar Energy (AABAR) off 2.03% and Dana Gas (DANA) lower by 1.79%.
In Telecoms Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) lost 0.49% after releasing 2008Q4 results.

UAE markets 28 Jan 2009

UAE market news & discussions for 28 January 2009

A further positive days trading on UAE markets today. The DFM closed flat however the ADX finished 1.5% higher.
On the DFM the index closed just 0.24% higher at 1,536 with 297 million shares traded worth Dh324 million. Trading was lead by ARTC down 1.62% and DFM down 1.12%. Higher were EMAAR up 1.0% and DIC up 2.04%
On the ADX the index closed 1.54% higher at 2,260 with 153 million shares traded worth Dh298 million.
Trading was lead by the Banking Sector in general, ALDAR up 4.15% and AABAR also up 4.96%.
In business news Congress seemed to be getting ready to pass the Obama recovery plan more deficit spending, The IMF lowered world growth forecasts and participants gathered at Davos for the World Economic Forum. Closer to home Abu Dhabi is indicating more support is on the way for local banks.

Dubai Financial Market

On the Dubai Financial Market 7 stocks advanced and 14 declined.
Despite a positive start with the index up over one percent the market closed flat.
Gainers included: Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) 0.95 (3.26%), Dubai Investment Company (DIC) 1.00 (2.04%), Emaar Properties (EMAAR) 2.03 (0.99%) and Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM)ARAT 1.10 (6.79%)
Losers included: Arabtec (ARTC) 1.21 (1.62%), Dubai Financial Market (DFM) 0.88 (1.12%), Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) 1.77 (0.56%) Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV) 0.56 (6.66%) and National General Cooling (TABREED) 0.48 (0.91%).

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

On the ADX 20 stocks advanced and 9 declined.
In Banking gains were lead by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) 1.58 (1.28%), Bank of Sharjah (BOS) 1.13 (9.71%), First Gulf Bank (FGB) 7.58 (2.43%) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) 8.57 (2.39%). The only loser ws WAHA 0.54 (1.82%).
Aldar lead the way in Realestate up 4.15% and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) up by 7.94%.
In Energy Aabar Energy (AABAR) was up 4.96% and Dana Gas (DANA) up 1.82%.
In Consumer Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH) was down by 2.22%. In Construction Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) lead the trading up by 2.80%.
Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) continued its climb up 1.91%.

UAE markets 27 Jan 2009

UAE market news & discussions for 27 January 2009

Another positive day on UAE markets today with broad gains on slightly better volumes.
The DFM index rose 1.86% to close at 1,532 with 268 million shares traded worth Dh296 million.
Gains were made in all sectors in particular ARTC up 10%, DEYAAR up 8.0%, TABREED up 8.5% and EMAAR up 5.0%. ARTC lead by volume with 55 million shares traded.
The ADX index was higher by 1.36% at 2,226 with 92 million shares traded worth Dh167 million.
Most sectors closed with gains lead by BOS up 8.5%, CBI up 6.12%, ALDAR up 2.55% and DANA up 1.85%.
In other news the Dubai Department of Economic Development is forecasting positive growth for Dubai in 2009 but cleverly will not put a figure on it. Meanwhile the EMAAR Chairman 'What Crisis' Alabbar believes the fall in Dubai property prices will be limited to an average of 20% according to press reports.

Dubai Financial Market

On the Dubai FInancial Market 18 shares advanced and 6 declined.
Gainers included Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) 0.92 (4.54%), Arabtec (ARTC) 1.23 (10.8%), Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) 0.55 (7.84%), Dubai Financial Market (DFM) 0.89 (7.22%), Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) 1.78 (3.48%), Emaar Properties (EMAAR) 2.01 (5.23%) and Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM)ARAT 1.03 (11.9%).
Losers included Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) 3.00 (1.31%) and Emirates NBD (ENBD) 3.30 (4.89%).

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

On the ADX 23 shares advanced and 8 declined
The banking sector led the gainers Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) 1.56 (6.12%), Bank of Sharjah (BOS) 1.03 (8.42%), Commercial Bank International (CBI) 2.08 (6.12%). However National Bank Of Ras Al Khaimah (RAKBANK) and United Arab Bank (UAB) both closed down 9.89%.
Realestate stocks all closed higher Aldar Properties (ALDAR) up 2.55%, Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) up 4.35% and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) up 7.68%.
In Energy Dana Gas (DANA) stood out by volume closing 1.85% higher at 0.55.
In construction Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) up 1.75% and Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) up 0.94% were the main traders.
Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) closed 1.01% higher at 9.96.
