UAE market news & discussions for 27 January 2009Another positive day on UAE markets today with broad gains on slightly better volumes. The DFM index rose 1.86% to close at 1,532 with 268 million shares traded worth Dh296 million. Gains were made in all sectors in particular ARTC up 10%, DEYAAR up 8.0%, TABREED up 8.5% and EMAAR up 5.0%. ARTC lead by volume with 55 million shares traded. The ADX index was higher by 1.36% at 2,226 with 92 million shares traded worth Dh167 million. Most sectors closed with gains lead by BOS up 8.5%, CBI up 6.12%, ALDAR up 2.55% and DANA up 1.85%. In other news the Dubai Department of Economic Development is forecasting positive growth for Dubai in 2009 but cleverly will not put a figure on it. Meanwhile the EMAAR Chairman 'What Crisis' Alabbar believes the fall in Dubai property prices will be limited to an average of 20% according to press reports. Gainers included Air Arabia (AIRARABIA) 0.92 (4.54%), Arabtec (ARTC) 1.23 (10.8%), Deyaar Development (DEYAAR) 0.55 (7.84%), Dubai Financial Market (DFM) 0.89 (7.22%), Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) 1.78 (3.48%), Emaar Properties (EMAAR) 2.01 (5.23%) and Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM)ARAT 1.03 (11.9%). Losers included Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) 3.00 (1.31%) and Emirates NBD (ENBD) 3.30 (4.89%). Abu Dhabi Securities ExchangeOn the ADX 23 shares advanced and 8 declined The banking sector led the gainers Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) 1.56 (6.12%), Bank of Sharjah (BOS) 1.03 (8.42%), Commercial Bank International (CBI) 2.08 (6.12%). However National Bank Of Ras Al Khaimah (RAKBANK) and United Arab Bank (UAB) both closed down 9.89%. Realestate stocks all closed higher Aldar Properties (ALDAR) up 2.55%, Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) up 4.35% and Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) up 7.68%. In Energy Dana Gas (DANA) stood out by volume closing 1.85% higher at 0.55. In construction Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) up 1.75% and Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) up 0.94% were the main traders.
